Sat in a STI today

Ok I want one so bad now there so nice I am in love I was going to trade my car in today.

dknv 2003-06-11 02:43 PM

Wow, they actually had one you could sit it, and it wasn't already taken?

ZER026D 2003-06-11 02:48 PM

Today was the first day this one was not sold yet go down there right now if you want to see it I bet it will be gone very fast. I was going to buy it but they would not give me crap for my car.

tysonK 2003-06-11 04:50 PM

you were gonna buy it, what the heck?

but your car is sweet.

tysonK 2003-06-11 06:56 PM

They had 3 when I was there. I sat in all of them. One silver with silver rims, Ones WRB/Gold and WRB/Silver.

prety nice, the interior was weak. I like the seats in the Evo better but who cares.

10,000 markup!

Dean 2003-06-12 05:38 AM

Despite Car And Driver's "Close Second" for the STI vs. the EVO, I think the STI has much more potential because they left some room to play with.

While the STI is up at respectable 1 Bar of boost at 14.5 PSI, the EVO is at a whopping 1.34 BAR or 19.5 PSI. The later leaves litle to no room for additional tuning, and to be honest, I'm amazed they can run that much boost on our crappy west coast 91 octane oxygenated gas. The ECU must and knock sensors must be working overtime to avaoid the engine banging itself to death.

I think with just a little susppension work to make it more nuetral, and maybe some exhaust work to let the turbos spool just a little earlier, the STI is going to be the winner in the long run.

ArthurS 2003-06-12 06:49 AM

Looks better also 8)

You're exaclty right. On 91 gas, the EVO is down something like 30hp!! Plus it knocks all the time. All this according to Shiv's initial reviews after running the EVO on his dyno over at Vishnu. However, I hear they've sorted all that out and have a Stage 0 out for the car that boosts power on 91 octane and smooths everything out.

I think the STi's the better overall car... just throw a stiffer rear bar on it, and that should take ot the understeer that C&D was bitching about. Then the only thing missing is the 13:1 steering ratio.

STI bringing home 11.8 without changing fuel system

If I had an STI could I run an 11.8??? What do you think guys? Stock fuel system and stock internals. Maybe 10.8

ZER026D 2003-06-12 03:13 PM

Yo 11.8 is 10.8 what your aiming for if it is you should go ESX.

I seriously doubt the stock STi fuel system will support a 10 second car... the internals might hold up, since it's a semclosed deck and some forged parts, but even then I'm not so sure.

Like Zero26D said... EasyStreet is the way to go for a fast drag car package...

MattR 2003-06-15 07:47 PM

I was at Lithia for about an hour today. (It almost happened) ....I did get to go for a test drive 8) I must say, the car is amazing...Its better than I expected....feels like damn race car. My wagon goes up for sale this week...If anyone knows an interested buyer, send them my way. I would like to avoid the hassel of selling it, and just trade it in, but I want to see what I can get for it...

tysonK 2003-06-15 09:02 PM

holy crap Matt!

get the White one! but don't pay 10,000 mark-up?!?!

MattR 2003-06-15 10:07 PM

Yeah, i'm not going to rush into anything, if the numbers are right, it might happen, but I will not be paying that excessive mark up

AtomicLabMonkey 2003-06-16 07:27 AM

I saw one in downtown Livermore yesterday, so apparently the Subaru dealer here has some too. 8)

sperry 2003-06-16 08:02 AM

I passed one on 80 going the opposite direction in Auburn on Saturday. I'm so tempted to sell my car for an STi, but I don't think I could get the funds worked out for at least another 6 months.

Besides, I really need to drive one first... the STi better feel way faster than my car or it's not worth it. Also, it'd be nice to finish out the autocross season in STX.

MattR 2003-06-16 01:23 PM

I agree with you about teh autocross thing, but the STI feels SO much faster than my car, I just can't resist...Your car however, I'm not sure...

ArthurS 2003-06-16 01:47 PM

Matt, your leaving the Auto Wagon Klan. You shall be banished forever.

Now I will feel even slower. Whats going t be the MSRP on a RX-8?

STIwish 2003-06-16 05:53 PM

I think its just under 30k on the RX-8... talk about a sick ride.

tysonK 2003-06-16 07:56 PM

I want to talk my mom into buying a mazda6 I realy like em actually.
looks like a bad ass highway cruiser.

MattR 2003-06-16 08:01 PM

Yeah, I looked at one a few weeks ago, they are really nice, look like they'd be fun to drive too.

ArthurS 2003-06-17 09:00 AM

I talked to Mazda in Carson. They are getting there first RX-8 next week. There will be a 2,000$ markup. Going to go see if I can get a test-drive.
