Won a pistol match!

So after 10 years off from shooting in handgun comps, a friend talked me into trying it again. Really fun! Action-style with bad guys, hostages and moving targets, all on the clock. Just a little local match, nothing big, but it felt good to be under pressure again...a great way to spend a Saturday morning and $20.

They finally got the results posted --- I didn't expect to come in 1st at all:

Outdoors, four different stages (scenarios), various start positions (low ready, holster draw, gun on table). Auto with 10rd mag limit (makes mag changes mandatory). I used a Beretta 92FS and an HK USPc. Figure about 20-25 rds per stage tops.

You could shoot it with a wheelgun, but that would add some time due to more reloads.

Ideally, you would shoot with a 40S&W or larger, as my 9mm required additional shots on a couple steel poppers.

The Production Pistol matches are really all about getting experience and they welcome new shooters. Next season I'll be shooting as many of the Saturday matches as I can.

It's a very safe environment and the range officers were all really cool.

Awesome, sounds like fun.

Winning a 'pistol match' is more impressive when it's the kind you can only lose once. :p

Impressive regardless though. Nice job dude. I wish I could get out there with you. I miss qualifying with a pistol in the Army, I didn't get to do it nearly as much as I would have liked.

Hopefully I'll have my rifle handy for that kind of pistol match....
