Guaging Interest MEGA Northern Califoria Road Trip

I thought some of you guys might be interested in this:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=380374

and you Reno folks wouldnt have to stay at the Cabin overnight on Friday, you could actually just show up that Saturday morning and join up with us! (read the details to know what im talking about :p )

BOO 2003-06-22 07:35 AM

WOW KOSTA !!!!
Seems like everyone is very excited about this ..
Last time i did something like this was when I did it with our Supras.com group on the way to Las Vegas !!! :) sounds like a blast man ...
Let me plan out my work/school/budget schedule  and I will def. let you know .. besides, I haven't met you ...

MattR 2003-06-22 08:31 AM

I'm interested in going, but I doubt I'll vote on when because its hard for me to plan out in advance...but once a date is set, I'll let you know if I can come. Awesome job of organizing and planning though, looks like this might be pretty cool

BOO 2003-06-22 12:24 PM

Hey Matt... I tried calling Lude and his cell phone rang like a million + 1 times !!! lol .. and no one picked up .. i assumed he was BUSY  ..
Its cool though maybe next time .. I hope you guys had a cool time ...

Kostamojen 2003-06-22 10:06 PM

Ya, Im trying to get a date set, I just realized that hot august nights is that week so it might be tough for everyone coming up from cali on friday, of course easy for you guys still :p

sperry 2003-06-22 10:25 PM

Hey Steve,

I replied to your NASIOC post... I'm definately interested in this if it's scheduled around the Reno SCCA AutoX events... I got a lot of work to do to catch up to Theo!! (Which also means, you're not allowed to come up anymore to race, unless you beat everyone but me ;))

So Aug 1-3 is good for me, but I didn't think about the whole H.A.N. issues... I think us Reno people will be going against traffic, but anyone coming from Sac will have to leave super early to get to your cabin on Friday, and it'll be a crap drive more than likely...

MattR 2003-06-23 06:36 PM

Yeah, no doubt, I would personally be able to go if we go Aug 1st, which would be cool, by the looks of the NASIOC thread, I think thats the day we'll end up going. Sweet, i haven't been to the coast in a while.

tysonK 2003-06-23 07:10 PM

i'll be at my sister's wedding aug 1 you guys have fun!

Ya, im worried about that... Luckly for me its not that far of a drive, but the bay area folks have a big problem...

August 1rst-3rd is about 99% for sure the date we will do this, so mark your callender!

P.S. Sperry, did you realize you really dont look like the kind of guy that would watch Initial-D? :p

What me? A big lanky white guy?

I look like a guy who'd drive an F-350, wear wranglers, and have a rack in the truck for my "long-guns". Then on Sundays I'd put on a collared shirt and my white cowboy hat for church.

In reality, I drive a Subaru WRX, wear clothes w/ cartoon or programming references on 'em, and I have a 6 gallon waterspray tank in the trunk instead of a gun-rack. And on Sundays, I'm either sleeping in, or racing.

...which also means I'm the kinda guy that's looking forward to a 12 hour drive for fun.... and I'm thinking of going for it all myself, the co-driver's there for navigation and conversation purposes only!! Maybe I should start training...

STIwish 2003-06-25 11:12 AM

YEE HAA!!!

LMAO!!!

I contemplated driving the whole way myself, til i started to look closer at the route on my map programs... Its gonna be a loooong trip. Ive driven from San Luis Obispo to Vallejo and Sacramento with out stoping before (even for gas, about 300 miles) and that was about a 3-4 hour trip, but this is gonna be ALOT of twisties and I wont be doing an average of 83mph like I was on those trips :p If anyone ends up exhausting themselves, im contemplating leaving them behind when they fall asleep  (we are gonna start damn early for this too remember...)

Well, I used to make the SLO to San Ramon drive (4 hrs) like it was nothing back when I was going to Cal Poly. I can do the Reno-Sac drive with my eyes closed these days... it's only hard at night with all the construction, but it's still not too bad. I've done SLO to Reno with only a stop for gas, that was about 6 hours... it's pretty tough at about hour 4 (somewhere between Stockton and Sac), but really only cuz 5 is BORING as hell and lulls you to sleep. Honestly, I feel like I could drive all day long as long as it's not in a long, straight, BORING line. I mean, if someone gave me the keys to Laguna Seca for a day, I'd drive non-stop till I had to pee/eat/or broke the car! 'Course, I'm gonna try to bring a co-driver just in case I do get too tired, plus I need someone to work the laptop and the DigiCam... which reminds me... I need to find a laptop.

I figure one lunch stop for an hour at about halfway, and a morning and afternoon bathroom break @ 15 min each... (which means AtomicLabMonkey can't come... he has the "squirrel bladder" and has to whiz every hour ) However one thing to consider, get 30 cars together and try to stop for 15 minutes and it'll be a 10 minute ordeal just to get eveyone back on the road!

Also, what's the easiest/fastest way to get back to Reno from the coast? If we gotta drive all the way back the way we got there, we'll have to show up Sunday night then immediately turn around Sunday at 6am!

Kostamojen 2003-06-26 09:57 PM

You went to Cal Poly too? LOL! I went there until I got stuck and couldnt change majors :(

Anyhow, im planning for lunch at Red Bluff and if we get there before 1pm we should be good.

As for getting back from Reno from Fort Bragg it would have to be across to willits, then down 101 to the turn off for Clear lake, then down I-5 to I-80 and up from there to Reno.

LOL!!! Damn it's a small world.

Poly's a bitch about changing majors... it's a huge Catch-22:

"Um, I can't pass my classes because I'm so disintrested in my major, can I change majors?"

"Only if you get your GPA up, and take all these extra classes to show you're serious about the new major."

"Um, so you want me to suddenly get motivated and interested enough to ace the major I hate, while taking on the extra work load of the major I want to swap in to?"

"Yes, oh and if you want to swap into CSC, you have to get A's in the intro classes 1st, no retakes... get a B and you might as well drop out, and never mind all the CSC majors that get C-'s who are allowed to stay around."

The trip sounds fun. I would be down to go. I haven't read through it all yet, but what are the dates going to be?
