Vonage or other voip anyone?

I am researching a vonage line for my outgoing calls. $24.95/mo for unlimited could save me some money.

Anyone doing this?

TIA

IGT just switched to VOIP. So far the only difference is that I get voicemails as .WAV files in my email. (But I should be getting a new phone today.)

If it to talk to anybody else with broadband, get Skype... It's free/month...

I'm assuming he's talking about getting a VOIP phone, not talk to someone like he's playing XBox Live.

Vonage doesn't have 911 service or something like that. Lack of cooperation by the big traditional networks, I think.

I think they can't take on new customers at the moment..

You may be right, but some folks don't think about talking over their PC, so I though I'd throw it out. A decent headset is $20 or so one time cost, and the quality is as good as Vonage from what I hear....

But it's useless unless the other end of the line is occupied by another computer geek willing to strap on a head-set. ;)

Yes, but are those the geeks you want to be talking to anyway? :P

We use vonage at my consulting office, its a pain in the ass when it shares the same line as the data, no work gets done until the boss is done saving his money. Good thing about it is he can take it anywhere, the phone and modem itself. VOIP is up and coming you will see lots of stuff that you will like, if you read info world magazine, you can keep up to date on just about everything new.

You can still make calls to a regular phone with your computer. Head Set and dial pad.
