This has probably been posted, but I watch this guy and think those guys behind the cones arent safe. I know he is a pro but still.

cody 2006-01-27 08:35 AM

Yah, sometimes I do a 180 and drive in reverse on the freeway so I can flip people off while I'm passing them.

If Petter can miss trees by inches at 120 mph on ice and gravel, I think those people are pretty safe with him on tarmac at 30 mph. Unless of course someone tosses a bowling ball sized rock out on the racing line... (*cough* Japan *cough*).

MPREZIV 2006-01-27 09:21 AM

I have experience with said bowling ball sized rocks. It's not fun.

JonnydaJibba 2006-01-27 09:28 AM

Me too, my tranny still whines. Awesome driving.

Couple of comments:

1) That guy looks like he knows exactly what he's doing. I never got the impression that anyone was in danger.

2) How the HELL DO PEOPLE DO THAT KIND OF STUFF!? I want to be able to bust a drift somewhere.

3) Bowling ball size rock? Japan? What? Details please.

cody 2006-01-27 11:22 AM

I want an indestructable drivetrain too.

Petter was leading the Rally of Japan (Subaru's home rally of course, so this was a *huge* deal) by a huge margin with only 2 stages to go. He hit a big ass, unavoidable rock that had rolled out into the racing line around a blind corner. Destroyed the RF wheel/suspension and put the car into the trees, ending their race, one they were on cruise-control to win.

Huge heartbreak, since Petter hadn't won a rally in a while, plus it was their home event. He had to walk away from the post race interview he was so broken up.

Wow. That's nuts. How are you guys going to watch WRC now? I heard Speed no longer covers it.

I found all 3 days of coverage on torrent site last night. The download was done when I got up this morning and I plan to watch it this evening. God I hope the coverage is in English...

sp00ln 2006-01-27 01:20 PM

Wow... thats too bad. You think someone threw it onto the road?

If you're able to get the torrents on a regular basis, I'll give you FTP access to host 'em on our site for everyone (assuming we're not breaking any laws because they're foreign programs). How big is a weekend of coverage?

I probably rolled off the side of the road due to errosion from passing cars. This ain't the baja where the locals dig pits to crash trucks and steal parts off 'em!

sp00ln 2006-01-27 01:24 PM

lol

I know this doesn't count as difinitive proof of legality, but the motherload of Top Gear thread has been pinned to the top of the video forum on WRXF for a year and a half with no problem...

There are 3 avi files close to 280mb each. I will virus scan them and see if they are in english when I get home and would be happy to upload them if you want...

Crap... that's pretty large. I'd have to do some serious house cleaning in the gallery if we're going to be able to host a full season of WRC...

Lemme see if I can't clean some stuff up this weekend and setup a public FTP account for the WRC stuff.

Why not just post the torrent links? I know, not everybody has figured out how to Interweb, much less BitTorrent. A Q&D how to would take up less space, and not use bandwidth...

I can't in good conscience download those things off BT when I'm constantly bitching at my roommate for wasting our bandwidth downloading TV and movies.

Plus, downloading from a dedicated server is far easier than the Torrent rigmarole, and as long as all of NASIOC doesn't get wind of it, we have a *ton* of bandwidth for hosting, all I need to do is clean up the wasted space in the gallery. Besides, I need to backup and update the site anyway, so this is as good a reason as any to finally do it.

I got them from this site but be aware that there is plenty of NSFW content there so click at your own risk:
http://www.torrentportal.com/torrent...php?search=wrc
I had planned to post a link, but since I was at work I could not access any of the sites and could not remember which site I got them from...

I will upload the files when the space is available.

tysonK 2006-01-27 06:22 PM

I started out that way but had all 3 within 12 hours yesterday...

tysonK 2006-01-27 08:08 PM

I'm up around 20 now, not to bad.
