Look out folks, just saw the new cop cars cruising around.

This afternoon, I was leaving Washoe med and what turned left in front of me? Why it was two new Dodge Chargers in RPD black and white. They werent done, but they were obviously cop cars. No light bars, antennae, or lettering, but by the color scheme and vicinity to RPD HQ, its safe to say that smokey has a new car....with a hemi. Look out, they'll likely be finished and on the road soon enough.

Plus the announcement like a year ago that Dodge was going to offer a discount on the Charger and Magnum for police departments.

Yeah I saw one a couple weeks ago at Kietzke and Virginia. But it only said police on the side, nothing else. And it was completely white. Had the lights and bull bar and stuff. I got a picture, but it's from my left rearview mirror and it's like 7 cars back so it can barely be seen. Bad ass I say. Quite a deterant to not speed just seeing that thing.

Sounds to me like the cops are going back to the 1950's and 1960's where they always had the fastest rides around with the exception of a select few cars.

Yeah, I thought that the Magnum was going to be the prowler of choice since it was reported to have the rubber interior to allow for hosing out vomitus and such. I saw that announcement about a year ago. I guess the Charger has it too, or it is just not as important as having a Charger. Let's just hope quotas dont increase to pay for them.....

They aren't really more expensive than Impalas. And probably last longer/have lower maintenance costs.

JonnydaJibba 2006-03-18 11:47 AM

^^ and are much faster.

JonnydaJibba 2006-05-03 08:07 AM

I saw a V8 Magnum Reno PD car last week, it was the hotness.

DARKSTI 2006-05-03 09:50 AM

im wating for them to start getting Mustang GT's again lol

Kevin M 2006-05-03 11:21 AM

NHP might use Mustangs for interceptors, but PD and sherriff departments need 4 full doors.

ShawnS 2006-05-03 02:46 PM

I've seen a couple of the chargers around town. They're mean looking.

GC8.Love 2006-05-04 12:23 PM

Eh.

Kinda reminds me of the LS1 interceptors. Heh heh.
