Hey from NJ...

I am in Carlstadt. New Jersey, just outside Newark.

If I had to give this part of the country a slogan, it would be "Armpit of the East." I'd go further south with my bodily analogy, but won't out of politeness. (Garden state, my ass!)

I have never seen worse roads, and infrastructure. One of the underpass/tunnel thingys I was in at one point had crumbling concrete, and exposed rebar. I think the only thing holding it up was the graffitti which is everywhere...

And man was I glad I had Neverlost(Hertz GPS thingy). To get from the airport to my hotel there was no rhyme or reason. At one point, the highway ends into street level, and then you make two lefts to get back on going the other way so you can take an exit onto another highway. I'm not kidding, there is no ramp from point A to point B... Insane...

I do hope I find the time to go to Atlantic City or new York, but am not holding my breath as I am only hear two days unless stuff goes wrong which means I'll have less time.

Oh, and they talk funny out here... I think MikeK's head would explode.

And the storm we had last week is here... I got drenched walking 250 feet back from dinner.

And as far as I can tell, there are no cool cars. Everything is American and most are beat to $4!+... Everything is so dirty.... I lived in Riverside for 5 years, Smog capitol of the west, but out here things just look old, dirty and crappy.... It's like nothing has been rebuilt since the Pilgrams built it. And you thought Downtown Reno was an eyesore...

Oh, and don't have a Long Island Iced Tea when you just "got over" a inner ear equilibrium thing. You may find it isn't quite as gone as you thought. At least it was after I was done flying and driving...

Holy Crap...I wasn't aware of your trip...You are a mysterious person.

Not to hijack my own thread, but I finally got to watch a movie I had been wanting to for years on my notebook on the plane. Yes, Deuce Biggalow Male Gigolo...

No actually it was a different movie, but the first two rules say I can't tell you about it. How in the hell did I miss that movie in the theatres... Wow...

You could go to Kevin Smiths comic book store! I heard New Jersey has a strange odor, any truth in that?

One of my favorite movies of all time...

I got sent to NJ to learn a software program once. Don't take a late night bus back from NY to NJ...scary...

sti deede 2006-04-04 07:21 AM

I have a friend that just moved out to NJ. Apparently he's in a good area, but works in a not so good area.

If you see any sweet graffitti could you snap some pics Dean? Please. :D

Dude, the roads in NY and NJ sucks so much ass it's unbeleivable. I was driving my girlfirend's Jeep in Staten island and Jersey and I thought I was going to lose a wheel in some of the potholes. You need a damn rally car.

And yeah, it smells funny. The greasy wop in me feels right at home, though. How *you* doin'?

JonnydaJibba 2006-04-04 11:26 AM

That place is nutty. I have some family that lives in the northern part of the state, where there is actually green stuff.

sperry 2006-04-04 11:29 AM

I thought 90% of New Jersey was beautiful... hence the "Garden State" nickname. It's just Newark and the surrounding area that's beat to shit.

JonnydaJibba 2006-04-04 01:44 PM

Where I've been was very beautiful, but it wasn't big city-ish. Mostly small towns surrounding eachother like most of CA, only everything was green and there were bugs everywhere.

Dean 2006-04-04 07:19 PM

Yes, I'm here for work. Spent 13 hours locked in a huge building in my company's data cage fighting servers that hate me...

Time to catch some Zzzzzs and go back and do it again tomorrow...

cody 2006-04-04 07:20 PM

Yick! Godspeed.
