Which clutch should i get for my 04 sti?
Go back stock or aftermarket?
|
It depends. How many miles did your old one last? How do you drive? Planning to autocross?
|
do you plan to modify? if you have the money, i wouldn't fuss around with any clutch besides an exedy twin plate! i have one on my car and it does not chatter at all and holds XXXXXXX power.
|
Its basically stock. Last clutch had 48000 miles but i bought the car with 44000 miles and just drove fast and some redline shifting. No autocross. I might possibly drag it every once and a while at the track and prolly not real hard. If you think aftermarket what kind, where to get it and ballpark price. Can anyone here do an install?

I don't see any reason to get an upgraded clutch honestly, unless a one-step upgrade to soemthing like Exedy (who makes most of the OEM clutches anyway) or ACT is cheaper. I personally am a big fan of lightened flywheels, but there are differing opinions on those. I would only let an experienced Subaru mechanic change my clutch.

I have an Exedy Hyper-Single. It rocks, but is damn near un-streetable. I got mine used from a fella that lives in San Fransisco... had it for about 100 miles on the car and decided he simply couldn't live in those hills and still drive the car. I don't blame him, as I can't stand stop and go traffic on flat ground!
So, if you're planning on driving the car daily, don't go too crazy with an aftermarket clutch, you'll probably regret it. |
