Fire at the firehouse
So, at lunch today Scott and I noticed the local fire station (next to Del Taco on Damonte Ranch) was taped off. It looked as if it had caught on fire. Isn't it ironic?

Firefighters at Fire Station 14 were called awake by dispatch at 2:18 a.m. on a fire call, when Captain John Ewald said he saw smoke from their station at the intersection of Highway 395 and Damonte Ranch Parkway.
The firefighters were able to recover one wild land fire and a heavy rescue truck. The rescue truck did suffer smoke damage. They used the wild land truck and fire extinguishers to hold back the fire, but were unable to save one Reno fire engine.
The 10-year-old fire engine was heavily damaged and officials say it will probably be a total loss. Investigators believe the fire may have started in the engine, but will wait until they can examine the truck to determine the exact cause of the fire.
The station suffered damage to its garage doors, interior, equipment, and to the second floor area. Preliminary estimates set the loss at about $800,000.
Fire officials will meet to discuss plans for repairs and ongoing fire protection plans for Station 14's area.
