1st Annual SECCS to Seca!
That's right, September 6th and 7th is the American Le Mans race at Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA! Also appearing: Speed TC and Speed GT cars!
I'm thinking that we should drive down on Friday evening, stopping in the Bay aRea. Then finishing the trip to Monterey Saturday morning. We can possibly stay at my parents house that night in Danville, assuming there aren't too many people going. We'll also need to get a hotel room or two for Saturday night in Monterey. According to Laguna Seca's website, the 2-day super pass is $55 and includes: General Admission, Paddock Access, Open Grandstand Seating - Sat/Sun. Parking is usually like $5-$10 per car IIRC. Andif you do what Austin and I did (park in a reserved spot w/ a car cover over the car so they don't notice you don't have a permit) you can park very close to the track. So who's in? We need a head count so we can figure out where we'll stay Friday night, and how many hotel rooms we'll need Sunday night. Who's going: Scott - definate Matt - definate Austin - definate Tyson - definate |
This is gonna rule! I'm definately in. 8)
|
I will let you know tomorrow :? I still ahve to clear my days on my schedule .... :)
|
I will let you know in a few days. But it doesn't look to be any issues.

I'll just be getting back from Vegas.. so I dunno
|
I really should be able to go, if all goes well, so far I'm golden.

Alright, it looks like we'll have at least 4, and possilbe 6 or 8 people going, so I think we should probably get a pair of rooms at a local hotel. IIRC the best way to do this is to get a hotel in the next town over, since it's way cheaper than staying in Monterey propper, but I don't remember the town that's got the decent hotel deals... Austin, where did we stay when you did Skip Barber?
|
I can't remember exactly, it's been a while... if we hit up the Motel 6 or Super 8 in Marina though it should be cheaper than a place right in Monterey proper. Are we gonna do it ghetto-style (read: cheap) and get the "1-person" room and have people bring sleeping bags?

So Scott, we need to get the room plan together for saturday night. I have to drive home to reno sunday night, I think you were planning the same. Do you have any leads on where to stay, or ideas about which hotels to call? we should probably do this tuesday. ;et me know.

IIRC SeaSide's got the cheaper hotels. There's also the whole issue with tickets. Carol Deborde offered to try and hook me up with a ticket through the track official training connection. (I'm gonna try to take the classes to become a track official! Most people do boring work, but you'll get to hook up a lot of free races... and if you're bad ass you get to flag a corner or something cool!) I think I can only get 1 ticket through Carol, so everyone else will need to order theirs off the www.laguna-seca.com website. Get the 2 day pass I mentioned earlier in this thread. The ticket Will Call is at the SeaSide Embassy Suites IIRC. Matt, I'll do a little research tomorrow from work and give ya a call when I knopw what's up... will you be able to answer your cell phone? What's a good time to call you? Austin, I'll hit you up on AIM to figure out our details. I'm gonna go update the "Who's going" list now... |
Okay it looks like there'll be 4 of us, 5 if Sergio can make it.... how 'bout it Serg? You got this weekend off?
If there's only us four (Scott, Matt, Tyson, and Austin) then we've got a small enough group that we can take 1 car, and even crash at my parent's place Friday night in the Bay, so we only need a hotel for 1 night. Also, we'll be able to cram into a single hotel room for the weekend if we get one with 2 beds. Since it looks like we'll only need 1 room, I'll try to find a decent --but not expensive-- place in SeaSide tomorrow and make reservations if I can. I'm figuring a room will be like $50 for a night, split 4 ways is only gonna be like $15/person after tax, etc. If Sergio can make it, it'll be even cheaper, and I'll bring my air mattress for the 5th person. If Sergio makes it, we can still take just 1 car to the Bay Area, but Ausin will have to drive to Seca, since 5 in an Impreza is a tight fit. I don't have a problem driving if no one else wants too... but I have to get my lug nut replaced this week for that to work... I guess I'll go by Subaru tomorrow and pick up a lug from parts. Any guesses what Lithia will charge for a single lug? The online price is $1.70. I'll bet Lithia will charge about $10 for it. :x Hey Matt, tell your new best friends over there to give me a reasonable price on a lug! I guess I could always just bring it to a local shop and have them charge Discount Tire... but it sucks to force DT to pay for an hour of labor when I could prolly do it myself in 20 minutes. |
OK tomorrow when I go to work they will hopefully tell me if their is mandatory overtime this saturday. If there is I might just have to call in, but reallly hate to do that. But by tomorrow, Tues, the 2nd I should be able to know for sure, unless they fuck with me like they did last week and not tell until thursday?!?!?!
Pray for me. my job is lame. |
BTW scott, in the your first post it say saturday night and then sunday night for hotel, you mean just saturday night.
you write: get a hotel room or two for Saturday night in Monterey. and you write: ->So who's in? We need a head count so we can figure out where we'll stay Friday night, and how many hotel rooms we'll need Sunday night. cause we drive back sunday night right, or am I missing something |

Alrighty then...
I made a reservation at the Marina Motel 6 for the night of the 6th. A two double bed, non-smoking room was $79.99+tax. Everything cheaper had a 2 night minimum that weekend. :x So it looks like it'll be around $25/each for the room. |
Crap.. I hope everyone's got tickets already... you can't buy them online from www.laguna-seca.com anymore... tickets will be on sale at the door for $65 for the 2-day general admission...
https://www.redshift.com/~lagunaweb/...e.php?number=8 weak! This looks like it's gonna be a $100 weekend... $65 for tickets, $25 for the room, plus gas, parking and food money... |
2-day tickets can still be had at the lower price ($55 for 2 days including paddock access) at:
http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1C...&minorcatid=25 We'll pick 'em up will call at the track. |
Sorry Guys I havent been able to get back with you because I was trying to see if I could in fact go .. but no.. sorry about that ... NOW I know what Tyson was saying about work gettting in the way of my fun .. lol
|
Well my job would not confirm that there will be no overtime on saturday still :x :x , so FUCK them, if there is I'm calling in.
Tyson is going to SECA! I was unable to buy tickets from the link Austin gave, so it looks like I'll be begging at the door, that wont't be a problem will it? I don't get off work on Friday till freakin 7pm is that a problem, I wouldn't think it mattered too much. |
