Money in Trash

Well my ION is at private party cars for the 3rd week unsold. I am not feeling this extra payment every month and now the insurance and registration is due. My wallet is crying out to me. If anyone is looking for a commuter with a full stereo system you know where to find it...

Craigslist! Sold both my spare cars that way.

Ive done, Ebay, CraigsList, Deals & Wheels, Cars.com, AutoTrader.com, and now PrivatePartyCars. I am even asking less then Kbb WITH A FULL ALPINE SYSTEM!! Frankly I have run out of ideas.

I had the same problem with my Lancer, its hard to sell new cars like that. What kind of demographic are you tring to appeal to? With a car like that I think you should try to appeal to an older demographic who is looking for a econo box.

The stereo adds zero value to the car. Take it out and sell it on the side.

In fact, the stereo implies "this car was owned by a kid"... 'cause old people don't put Alpines in their rides. It may actually be hurting the resale ability.

The problem is that it's an ION. It's a nice car and all and should be in decent shape... but the sub-compact/economy market is flooded and none of the choices really stand out as being so desirable that buying one that's barely two years old is something people set out to do. How much do you owe vs. value of the car?

100_Percent_Juice 2007-01-25 06:51 PM

the value is about a grand over what I owe. Im not upside down YET but I just need to get rid of it. If anyone is interested in subs, I will sell them. I just left everything in the car thinking a kid would want to buy it.

I still have 3 more weeks at privatepartycars so all is not lost.

Nice leopard skin box.

Seriously though, you gotta sell it like an econo car... stereos aren't part of that market. You can probably get some scrilla for the audio gear on eBay or something.

And remember, to sell fast, you may have to be willing to take the hit and sell it at a loss. Thing about this... if it will eventually sell at the price it's at, but cost you 4 more payments, plus registration, plus insurance... won't you save money by unloading it at a $1000 loss now? Drop the asking price $2000 and watch it go next week, perhaps?

Type R's are bad ass subs, leopord skin box... not so much.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-01-25 09:05 PM
