The "new" WRX

So after a long wait (7 months) and a whole list of problems including having to get new oil lines for the turbo twice, and waiting months for Hydra to send me an ecu i finally got my car back the other week. I got to put all the stuff i had waiting in my house on it and here's how it turned out....Im heading back down to the bay next week to get the tune finished up, but as of right now it made 325hp/295tq at 19.5 psi (we are hoping to tune up to 22psi next week!) on the dyno dynamics dynometer at Speed Element. Thanks goes out to devin, Andy, Mike and Cal for all the hastle and problem solving......enjoy(i hope at least.)
ryan

Ahhh the list:
JDM FXT long block
HYDRA stand alone EMS
Perrin rotated GT30 Kit
Garrett GT3076 .63ar
Perrin FMIC
Tail 44mm wastegate
Tail BOV
Helix 820cc injectors

at least this is the stuff i added...haha

Do you have any idea how speed element's dyno readings compare to the old gruppe-s dyno (now at GST motorsports)?

ryan4601 2007-01-31 03:33 PM

uh...dont quote me for sure because mike will come on here and rail me! hahah.....no but seriously devin and andy told me that the cars that they dynoed at gruppe-s before and then on their dyno dynamics were very close. i think with their three cars they were all within 5hp of gruppe-s(now GST).

SO, umm... "test drive" after the new clutch?

knucklesplitter 2007-01-31 03:59 PM

I really like the look of the car.

Just curious... are you gonna run speed density with the Hydra? If so, what are you doing for the IAT sensor? If not, what intake will you be running?

Can't wait to hear how it all turns out.

Kevin M 2007-01-31 04:43 PM

If he's gettign his tuning support from Phil @ Element, I would say pretty certainly it's speed density.

Kevin M 2007-01-31 04:43 PM

Oh yeah, and sweet setup Mike!

ryan4601 2007-01-31 04:48 PM

Cory you can get a test drive for sure after the clutch install next week..haha.....and yup it is speed density for the hydra. It uses the stock MAF sensor to guage the IAT, at least that is what i was told.

It's easy. I did it in one evening following the how-to on IWSTI or someplace. Didn't even remove the electronics. I'll help you if you want.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-02-05 08:44 AM

^ I still have to do that too

ryan4601 2007-02-05 11:17 AM

did you also replace the turn signal bulbs to amber ones? if so where did you get them from......i might have to take you up on the headlight clearing thing......it would definitly be an improvement.

Yes, I changed to amber bulbs. I believe that Autozone had the ones for the front.

Let me know if you wanna do that. Sunday - Tuesday is best for me usually.

MPREZIV 2007-02-05 12:08 PM

<on lunch.

I must say, that Perrin Rotate Kit makes pulling the tranny a BITCH!! I've done worse tho... Tranny's back in! She'll be rockin' soon!

Ah it's no problem dude! It really took about 5 more minutes than if it were stock, I was just worried about the wastegate, the way it sits in front of the tranny bellhousing. Everything's good tho!

ryan4601 2007-02-05 06:12 PM

Hey cory thanks for all the hard work today man....i cant believe that it was such a pain to get the DP back on with those bolts....but thats for sticking with it and getting that clutch in. Now, just to get some miles on it and get it broken in so i can find out what its really made of! thanks again man.
