More options the merrier. If you miss the SECCS one on the 22nd, I'd recommend coming to this one and getting the Annual Tech done before the first event of the season.

MikeK 2007-03-05 04:42 PM

I'll be at this one (for the juicy bits)

sperry 2007-03-05 10:54 PM

I wonder if I'll have a car all finished so I can get my TT inspection done... are they bringing scales?

MattR 2007-03-05 11:14 PM

I don't know if we'll have the scales there. I know Dave will have them at the trial tech day, but as for right now, that will be a seperate event. C&C does have scale,s I'm sure Rusty could pull them out for the day. I can ask. I think we should wait to see if Dave will have TT tech coverage for this day.

Bump for updated info.

MattR 2007-03-25 03:50 PM

Just an update. A Rule book (or version of) will be required to complete annual tech. So please plan on printing one out or purchasing one the day of the event. PLease see page 26 of the rulebook (you don't have) for clarificationness.

I would say, if you're reading this, you have access to the internet, and therefore access to the SCCA website for a copy of the rules. Frankly, I think the requirement of "having" a copy is a little archaic, especially since the online rules tend to be more up to date due to the easy access to online Fastrack updates.

MattR 2007-03-25 10:05 PM

I plan on having a printed copy a la xerox.

Seems unnecessary. Here's pg 26 from the rulebook:

Quote:

A. Annual Inspection
An Annual Safety Inspection for a calendar year may be available
for vehicles presented for inspection by an SCCA member. When
a vehicle has completed the requirements for an Annual Safety
Inspection, an official Annual Tech card will be issued to allow
Registration or other designated event officials to verify Annual
Tech prior to the start of competition. An official Region SCCA
Annual Tech sticker shall be placed on the vehicle in a location
that will be visible to the starter when the vehicle approaches the
start line for a competitive run. If the Annual Tech sticker has
been removed, the card may be used to obtain a replacement.
Alternatively, individual event tech stickers can be issued when
the Annual Tech card is presented rather than the issuance of an
Annual Tech sticker. The Annual Tech should be honored for all
SCCA sanctioned Solo events in that Region. The following
conditions apply to all Regional implementations of Annual Tech:
1) Regions have the option of placing additional restrictions on
the Annual Tech process, such as limiting the classes allowed
and/or restricting it to experienced drivers.
2) The Annual Tech inspection must be conducted by an experienced
inspector appointed by the Regional Solo chairperson.
It is strongly recommended the Region Tech Inspector appoint
and train an adequate number of assistants.
3) The SCCA member presenting the vehicle for inspection is
required to possess a current copy of the National Solo Rules.

4) The vehicle should be presented for Annual Tech in the same
condition in which it will compete.
5) It is the responsibility of all competitors in a vehicle with an
Annual Tech approval to verify that all items in 3.3.3 are in
compliance.
6) The event technical inspector or chairperson may require a
vehicle be presented for a re-inspection if there is good reason
to believe that a vehicle is not in compliance with the sections
of 3.3.3.
7) A vehicle must be re-inspected if modifications are made to
the car after receiving an Annual Tech approval.
An official SCCA Annual Tech sticker may be affixed to helmets
meeting the current standards in order to easily identify eligible
helmets.
It doesn't actually say they need to have it with them to pass inspection, i.e. that it needs to be signed or stamped or anything like it used to. It just says, the person must posses a copy of the rules. IMO, it's just to ensure the person getting teched is aware of the regulations they're being teched under. What a huge waste of paper to buy a book (or worse yet to print off a copy from the .PDF) for something that most people rather use electronically. For example, I'd never look up anything in the paper rulebook, I'd much rather just crack open the laptop and have a searchable copy... though SCCA pissed me off this year by removing the table of contents panel from the document... it's still way better than flipping pages.

Can I have my copy on a USB drive?

I'm arguing that all you need is access to the internet and you're all set... and since the public library has that... everyone's all set.

Dean 2007-03-25 11:15 PM

Hey Matt, Rusty didn't seem sure we were having the 7th when I was in on Friday. I told him it was on, but you may want to follow up with him...

MattR 2007-03-26 11:21 AM

Yep all Good... We will start setting up at 8:30 AM, and hopefully start running cars through soon after.

Nick Koan 2007-04-07 11:00 AM

Good times, good times.

Forgotten 2007-04-07 11:14 AM

That was some serious breakfast err business.

Joeyy 2007-04-07 04:44 PM

Any news out of the tech day?

Nick Koan 2007-04-08 09:42 PM

Some cars got teched. It was pretty fun. Then we all went to eat at the South Side Cafe.

Oh, and we all got to see Mike K's spiffy red crinkle coated FMIC pipes.

MPREZIV 2007-04-09 06:15 AM

I ate too much...
