WTB: front sway bar

As I understand it, any front sway bar from a GC/GM/GF or GG will fit my car. Anybody have a spare that is 22mm or larger laying around? I have a Cusco 20-24mm RSB I'm looking to get rid of as payment.

A GD wagon might work as well since they are sans the Wide Body. ???

sybir 2007-03-22 12:08 PM

That's what a GG is. GD is the sedan, GG is the wagon.

Kevin M 2007-03-22 12:12 PM

Indeed.

Kevin M 2007-03-22 12:13 PM

Also, if anyone wants to just buy the Cusco bar, feel free to ask about it. :)I thin I'm going to stick with OE 17 and 20mm bars for the foreseeable future.

I've got a 20-22 Whiteline front GC bar that was used on my WRX until I realized that all the clunking was due to the GD's additional front subframe.

If the rear bar you have comes with the proper poly bushings, I'll trade you.

Just had a thought... my bar was designed for the GC WRX... not sure if that will fit a matching era outback.

From what I understand, turbo is compatible with NA. The extra bend to clear the crossmember is in space on the NA cars. I'll trade you for the Cusco (I think I have the bushings) but don't you already have a bar of the same size?

AutoX rules causing this?

Kevin M 2007-03-22 01:46 PM

Nah, I just don't think I need a big RSB with coilovers. Going to try smaller bars for a while. I can run any sway bar I want (or no sway bar at all).

Yeah, with bushings that are too small and tend to freeze the bar up. So if I can get a bar that doesn't require using spacers and cutting to free up the bushings it's worth it.

I'll bring the bar tonight, you can take a look to see if it'll help you.

Kevin M 2007-03-22 02:28 PM

Okay. But, assuming I have the bushings, I can't guarantee they won't bind also, since I've never installed this bar.

What would a OE FSB from an STI fit on?

An STi. Or any car with an STi front subframe and LCAs.

Actually, I'm gonna take a look at it, but so far it doesn't seem like there'll be any real difference.

Wanna Cusco bar instead?

sybir 2007-03-22 09:43 PM

Scott, I have some random Whiteline swaybar bushings; I'll send them up with the other junk on the off chance they're a bigger ID or you can use 'em with some mods.

If it's the same price, sure! I don't care what color it is, but a blue bar will match my endlinks better. Cusco is blue, right?

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know.

Let me check it out once I get my car back to see if it will make a difference for me, and if it's not any different than the Whiteline (which I expect) it's yours.
