A weekend driving school at Miller Motorsports Park 4.5 Mile 24 turn track with the Audi Club. (Audi ownership not required)

This is an amazing track. I have video somewhere.

How was the event? Do you have any in-car video?

Dean 2007-06-04 05:47 PM

Yes, there is in-car video.

Great event.

One of my students had a Noble which I got to drive for a session at speed so he could "hear it go bye." Student's wishes come first... Sure... It's an oven to be in, driving or ridding, but worth it...

Do we have a You Tube link for the video yet?

It's going to be a day or more to get them stitched together...

Split screen in less than 640x480 really is pretty bad, or I would... Oh, and they are over 10 min and 100MB...

You should be able to crop, then compress them to <10min <100MB and still get some decent video. Just crop a few laps together, 640x480x30fps, and compress it to whatever brings it down to about 100MB.

Very few people are going to bother to download 1.5GB of video that's probably 99% the same footage of you hauling ass around Miller. Crop together a Cliff Notes version.

Derrick will.... :) I do this more for me, and students/instructors at future events than the populace at large.... Just want my fastest laps, probably watch a few in the middle of the last video.

I'm not saying the full-res vids are useless, I enjoy 'em on the TV at the meets for sure. I'm just saying that online, you'll get a lot more people watching if they're streamable off YouTube. It's so much more convenient that I can't stand downloading videos anymore.

Fine, I uploaded the last lap of my last run on Sunday which may well be my fastest lap of the weekend... 3:39.8 @ 73.7MPH average.

Nice lap... very smooth, and right on line with what look like some somewhat complex multi-apex corners.

But the thing that sucks is, that track doesn't look any fun! :( Just a bunch of similar speed turns... no elevation, no variation... I'm sure it's a lot more exciting with traffic like the World Challenge guys fight through, but for hot laps... looks almost boring!

You are mostly right about lack of elevation but turn speed is well varied, and turns and some sections are very technical sequences. Not sure it is the funnest track, but quite challenging and great for learning to use your eyes rather than relying on landmarks. Similar to the original Pahrump track in many respects... Definitely worth at least one visit. And Bonneville is on the way. :)
