Damn the MAN!!!

I jus got pulled over again in CA...I was goin with the flow of traffic at 80 mph in a 65 zone. And they single me out again. Out of all the plates, I was the only NV plate. Consipracy...I think so...I hate CHP.:monkey:

JonnydaJibba 2007-05-16 02:29 PM

I'm sure it had nothing to do with driving a sporty car amongst a group of what was most likely SUVs and mini-vans.

The problem with looking fast is that people believe it.

Why do you hate the CHP. You were clearly breaking the law. You have the choice to slow down to the maximum speed limit. If that means that you will be slower than traffic behind you then move right one lane. Repeat if necessary.

I don't hate the CHP. I hate the laws that they are hired to enforce.

<-- got a ticket yesterday on 80. It was a calculated risk.

Puns 2007-05-16 03:49 PM

yeah but i wish they would be nice thou...

Should they be nice to all murderers and rapists too? Or just the out of state ones? The law is the law, they are just doing their job and you chose to speed.

tysonK 2007-05-16 05:06 PM

that sucks man.

I have had plenty of nice experiences with the law when I was totally in the wrong. I've also seen the other side quite a few times. Most of it is attitude. Sure, some of it is stereotyped by the type of car you're in but that's just because it's been the officers experience that a certain type of car is driven by a certain type of driver. Prejudice or not thats just how the statistics work out.

My ticket yesterday was one of the most hasslefree ones yet.

They're really not murders or rapists until convicted for such crimes. So yes, they should be treated just like any other person as long as they cooperate.

I get all worked up watching Law and Order when every suspect is guilty in their eyes.

True, but then again most murders don't happen within sight of uniformed peace officers. Speeding frequently does.

Puns 2007-05-16 07:07 PM

The best is cops when then say they're are goin to coopperate and then they get slammed into the concrete face fist. Love it...

wrxkidid 2007-05-16 07:13 PM

hmm.

cant you get ticketed for impeding traffic? im not saying you were right but if the flow of traffic is 80 mph and you go 65 and impede traffic cant they ticket you?

Puns 2007-05-16 07:35 PM

Yeah everyone says that would happen too. I guess it was jus me being in the wrong place at the wrong time...

100_Percent_Juice 2007-05-16 07:44 PM

ill tell you what im sick of. " your actual speed was 80 but im only gonna site you for 70" blah blah blah they all say that as if there doing ME a favor. I mean why site me for 70 and then on the next line write the actual speed?? Whatever

Next time I get pulled over and the cop says that, im just gonna say "na bish, you write that ticket for 80!"

Puns 2007-05-16 08:15 PM

That is true...I got a ticket once for goin 84 in a 65 zone in gardnerville. Cited speed said 75 and actual said 84 and i still got a $200 ticket. If he wants to do u a favor he should jus give you a warning.

Bob Danger 2007-05-16 09:21 PM

sigh

If you don't yeild for faster traffic then yes. That's why I said move right. Keep moving right until you aren't slower than traffic in your lane or are in the right most lane. And OMG!!!! don't drive the same exact speed as the guy next to you for 16 million miles.

/soapbox

dknv 2007-05-16 09:39 PM

I wouldn't know for sure because I don't get tickets for speeding -- ;) -- (or, I should say, I haven't for many years); but, I thought the reason they Cite you for a lower speed than what their radar picked up, was to help you avoid 'points' on your driving record, which in turn increases your insurance rates, along with a blacker mark on your record. That, and maybe so they won't have a fight in court about the accuracy of their radar measurement.

I have state farm and my rates have never gone up. Also I have seen my record and the actual speed is also listed.:|

MPREZIV 2007-05-17 06:18 AM

I must say that I really dislike the standpoint of "how could that cop give me a ticket for breaking the law!?" I haven't had one in a while myself, but when I was younger and dumber, when I did get pulled over, I never fought, or argued, or just gave the cop a bunch of crap for doing his job! If I was speeding, and got pulled over and cited it, THAT'S HOW IT WORKS! A customer brings me a broken Nissan, and I fix it. That's my job. I'm speeding and a cop sees me, and tickets me. That's HIS job.

The only time I've "argued" a point with a cop is the time I got pulled over for something that another person in a car similar to mine did... some of you remember that one...

NevadaSTi 2007-05-17 06:48 AM

There is a good old thread about me being a "Stereotyped" streat racer in here somewhere. LOL. HAHA, I found it.

Where is our CHP officer dude who lives in Reno?

Dean 2007-05-17 07:27 AM

Our resident CHP is probably wisely declining to comment on the grounds that it might impact his employment. Big brother is watching you know.

Being a cop is largely a thankless job. It is like like being school principle for adults. You hardly ever interact with your students unless they misbehave, and they hardly ever appreciate being disciplined.

Do the jocks, cheerleaders and nerds get away with stuff the goths and stoners don't, probably, but that's life. Nobody ever said it was going to be fair.

If you are really paying attention, it should be pretty tough for a cop to catch you. So if you are going to speed, you better stay alert. You only have yourself to blame.

Shut Up And Drive. :)
