SCCA NORPAC Convention Jan 9-11, 2004

The yearly SCCA NORPAC Convention is coming to Reno at the Atlantis Feb 9th-11th!

Since it's sponsored by Subaru, we've been asked by RenoSCCA to see if we can put together a little Subaru Corral consisting of a few local Solo2 Subarus, some street Subarus and perhaps a Rally car to show off the local Subaru contingency!

Details to come as January nears... I'd love to have at least one older GC8, a WRX, an STi, and hopefully a rally car... but the rally car will take some doing. Of course, the more the merrier!

MattR 2003-09-03 09:06 PM

Awseome idea! Maybe gary can bring the USTCC car up for the weekend. I think that will be very cool, we should put the whole group on display.

Oh yeah BTW, this is coming about because we've decided to postpone the show-n-shine until next season due to weather, location, time constraint, and daylight issues.

damn that event sounds great. And it's even in Reno thank god!
I should have a full body kit, NoS, new chrome 19's, and LED windshield washers by then. So, I'm in.

but seriously. that banner is gonna come in handy.

Deadline for early-bird registration ($75) is this friday!! Sign up now! If you're participating in the Car Corral, Reno Region will more than likely cover part of your entry fee, so figure more like $25 or $50, not $75. After the 7th, the registration fee is $100.

You can register here:

http://www.nwr-scca.org/convention/2004registration.htm

and there's a link to pay with paypal on that page. Everyone sign up!! We need cars for the corral!!

So how do we get the rebate? Do I pay the $75.00 and pray for change? Do I need to be a member of the SCCA?

I think I'll just print this thing out and bring it to this weeks meet.

I'm in thou :D

I believe you will need to be a Reno Region SCCA member. According to the Nov RenoSCCA meeting minutes

Quote:

Dave proposed that the committee members come and be reimbursed for their registration, this lead to discussion of other types of reimbursement to members attending. Greg Benson suggested that members attending and help at the convention be reimbursed $50.00 and members from the Reno Club in good standing (having attended 10 or more events) be reimbursed $25.00.

Eric made a motion that the committee members be reimbursed the full registration of $75.00; those that register and sign up to help at the convention weekend be reimbursed $50.00; and those members in good standing that attend be reimbursed $25.00. B.J. Filarski 2nd. Motion carried. Note: Committee members – Dave & Carol Deborde, Eric Gangloff, Patty Evans, Greg Benson, Jim Gandy, Jim Uchytil, Dean Benz ,John Riggs, Jr, Victoria & B.J. Filarski, Debbie Kerswill and Dick Lewis
So, those of us in the car corral should be getting a $50 reimbursement... assuming that will be recognized as "helping". However, if you're not a Reno SCCA member, then I'm not sure how it will work... I'd guess that the committee would be willing to work it out somehow... definately come to tomorow's meeting if you can make it!

Okay, so I cannot make it Sunday. I have a training class for financials all day long (Unless it is still going after 6 pm). Friday I work of course, but can be there friday evening and saturday. I'll see if I can get the truck.

MattR 2004-01-08 09:14 AM

Yeah, definately plan on Saturday Art, that will be great.

I'll be there at 7 AM tomorrow. Do I really have to clean my car? Can't I just say 'this is how a subaru should look - dirty'?

I was really stoked we put on such a great show! Thanks a ton guys for coming out and putting the prep work into your cars to make 'em look good in the middle of winter!

A special thanks to Matt and Tyson who were kind enough to stick it out all last night (and by "all" I mean we didn't get any sleep) helping me with the JIC install!

Now I'm gonna be vain and post a pic of my own car. :P

No problem dude, It was worth it to get your ride done. it is now 8PM, for some reason I'm still up. I've been up for 38 hours now, time to slip into a coma. see ya

Not to be redundant to what Matt and others have said, but a Huge Thank You! to Scott, Matt, Tyson, Mike, Art, Sean, Sergio and Jim Payne for displaying their cars at the corral, manning the table and display area, and being great ambassadors for SECCS and the SCCA!

In addition to the numbers of people who stopped by, got posters, and talked about our cars, the President/CEO of SCCA as well as the VP of Marketing for SCCA had an opportunity to see the spirit of SECCS. (The VP of Marketing wanted to know 'what we were doing' to have generated such interest and participation from Subaru owners in our area.) The visibility factor of the car corral was even greater than I would have imagined. I am so proud to be a member of this club!

dknv 2004-01-11 05:33 PM

oh yeah - we also now have a Subaru banner to add to the club's goods.

oh yeah - and we made some new contacts with the SCCA Rally guys.

oh yeah - we still have a bunch of posters and a few stickers for those who couldn't make it this weekend.

for whoever took off my magnets & put them away - Thank You!!
