weird idle noise??

My car has about 70,000 miles on it now. I just started noticing a noise coming from the passenger side, front of the engine, upper corner by the timing belt. It sounds like a brushing/rubbing noise, at a constant pulsating rate. The car runs fine and I only hear it at idle. It almost sounds like a bearing needs to be oiled. Any ideas on what it might be? Thanks :?:

Do your bearings need to be oiled? :P

But seriously, it could be an idler pulley or something in the timing-belt loop.

A makeshift stethascope made of just a piece of hose may help you narrow down the problem maybe.

I inspected my belts, turned out my alternator belt was getting old and the teeth were coming off. I replaced both belts and wanted to make sure I tightened them correctly. I gave them about a 1/4 to 1/3 inch of play (read that in another forum). They seem to running fine, not slipping. Is that the right tension?
