Cheap wheels??

Okay, I'm looking for some cheap wheels for daily drivers/driving..

I came across the Sport Edition wheels at Tire Rack.

They're cheap!

Are these a total case of "you get what you pay for," and I'm going to really regret it?

Any opinions or suggestions are welcome.

Saw you on 395 yesterday. :) Sorry, that's all I got. What's the stats/price on these wheels?

Dean 2007-06-17 12:59 PM

16s or 17s? TireRack also has the ASA JHAs for only $92 each which are 7.5" instead of 7" in 17"ers... http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheel..._jh3_ci3_l.jpg

Oh? Sonic Yellow?

I don't think I was doing anything awful like pulling a face. If Lonnie was driving, he could have been picking his nose.

Here's the page..

Probably sticking with 16"s and choosing among the E2, F2, or D5.

I'm pretty much considering these because I don't have two sets of spare stockers for the GC or the GM banging around - and they seem to be a little pricey these days, especially if they have to be shipped.

Last good deal I got was 5 spokes for $200 p/u in Grass Valley.

If I went with Tire Rack, I could at least p/u out here. And no curb rash to start with. =.P

I was doing a ricer flyby with my hazards flashing. :D

If you're not worried about the width (or the looks), 02-05 WRX/RS wheels are usually dirt cheap and easy to find. I think there was a set on Craigslist for like $350 w/tires.

Edit: Here it is, and with nice Falkens too.

Ya, I saw you.

"WTF, yo. I didn't know we was r@cin'."

Just kidding.

What I really did think was "Yeah, that must be someone from SECCS." :P

I'm not sure Lonnie was really paying attention, but I caught you out of the corner of my eye - being good and paying mas attention as the passenger.

For some reason I just can't doze off or not pay attention with someone else driving.... and plus it's my car anyway.

Danke.

Yeah, one of our IS guys emailed me that too. Goofball is always trying to get me to buy parts, as if I needed the prompting..

I may. I was seriously considering some aat one point, mostly because I was seeing cheapies around. But for some reason I lean more towards the GC/GM 5 and 6 spokers..

I'm might think about those some more, especially due to the condition.

I'm just impressed you let anyone drive your car. I let one buddy drive my car so he could compare it to his relatively stock WRX and I let Alex AutoX in my car. It was cool though...he was much gentler than I was on his car. "Don't worry, STi's have bullet proof tranny's!"

Who doesn't? :D I prefer just about any OE Subaru wheel over those. But a set of 5 spoke RS wheels is like $400 w/o tires usually, and these come with nice newish A/S Falkens for $350. I'd offer the guy $250 and see if he bites. Then it's worth it just for the tires and you get the rims for free.

Well, it's okay. I get a little anal about it sometimes, though. I've known Lonnie for a decent amount of time, and I fairly trust him to be good with it. Do I let him drive it around himself? Very rarely.

Also -

I'm too afraid (for the car) to toss it around since it's owned by some bank back east; otherwise I'd be trying to miss cones...or would I be hitting them on purpose?

Cory gets a chuckle when I say this, I think.

It must be getting late, I'm spilling my guts. :D

Hey, my bank owns quite a few REALLY nice cone marks!

ScottyS 2007-06-19 07:28 AM

16"?

6-spoke OEM rules!

JonnydaJibba 2007-06-19 08:40 AM

They're just cones...
