07 WRX Stock Up-Pipe On A 05 WRX?

Does anyone know if the up-pipe on a 07 WRX will fit/work on my 05 WRX? A friend has one laying around because it has been replaced with an aftermarket up-pipe and I hear 06+ is catless so I was just wondering!

Nick Koan 2007-08-22 06:14 PM

I'm pretty sure it does. The engines didn't change significantly between 05 and 07.

The 07 is a 2.5 and the 05 is a 2.0, so I wasn't sure if all of the piping would line up or if I would have any problems that anyone knows of. Trying to get rid of the dam cats or at least one for free!

Nick Koan 2007-08-22 06:46 PM

Yeah, but the 2.5 block and the 2.0 block are the same exterior size and for the most part have all the same mounting spots.

FWIW, I've got a WRX up pipe on my 2.5l Legacy motor.

I think so, but I'm not 100%. Be prepared to deal with the CEL from the EGT sensor coming out. The resistor fix works well. Maybe watch for boost spiking too.

Kavid 2007-08-24 04:05 PM

If I have to deal with CEL's and soldering and resistors, maybe it's not worth it until I get the TBE. Just looking for a way to rid of a cat with a part that would cost me nothing at all except time to put it in. Can anyone confirm I will have a CEL if I do this?! Thanks

The resistor fix consists of pushing the two ends of a $0.30 resistor into a plug and putting tape over it. All of 12 maybe 15 seconds of "work". It's the 5 hour up-pipe install, and the $40 in new gaskets that sucks ass.

The ap v2 will clear that up won't it.

If I had an AP v2 I wouldn't be worried at all about this up-pipe, this part is free as opposed to a $700 Cobb AP! I would be saving for bigger and better things if I had that. But with the AP CEL's are a thing of the past from what I hear.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-08-29 06:11 PM

you don't need to get the v2. You never see the damn thing anyways. Just get on nasioc and pick of a v1 for cheap from someone who wants the v2 bling.

cody 2007-08-29 06:53 PM

^+1 Gut your stock UP, buy whatever bellmouth or DWG DP you can afford, wrap it if it's not coated, replace the stock axleback with a straight through of at least 2.5" ID and get Protuned.

I wouldn't do the UP without tuning on anything but a bugeye, personally.

Jesubi11 2007-08-29 08:57 PM

I use my ap as a boost gage. I enjoy the v2 and think it is worth every penny.

cody 2007-08-29 09:11 PM

You can do that with the V1 too. But you should consider one that doesn't use the stock sending unit (for safety).

Jesubi11 2007-08-29 09:54 PM

v1 has a less then readable display though. I'm also verry interested to see how much gas I'm wasting when the fuel economy update comes out... :~:

Jesubi11 2007-08-30 11:22 PM

Thanks for the offer but I think I'm gonna wait on the up gut/replace till I do dp. Less gasket money.

Kavid 2007-08-31 02:24 PM

Honestly, what is the difference between the AP V1 and V2?! Is it really just bling or does the V2 actually have some real good features over the V1 that we can use?! You can get custom tuning on both right?! Do they both come with pre-loaded maps? If I am not going to get too crazy with my car should I spend the extra money on the V2 or find a V1? Just curious.
