So my car got repossessed last night
I got home from the meet last night and my car is gone. The cops are called to report it stolen, but they tell it they have it reported as being repossessed. I am very impressed becuase I paid my car payment 5 days previous and it went through according to my online statement. I talked to GNCU this morning and they had no idea why it had been repossessed due to my perfect history. Through the cops I learned the number of the repo place, and then the truth is revealed. They repod BRIAN'S Car. Thanks Brian. It's cool though, I got it back and a free tank of gas and all this paperwork saying it was their fault. It was a fun morning.

Oh geez.
Hopefully they towed it with all four wheels off the ground  |
Ouch.
|
Double you tee eff mate? So they thought Brian wasn't making his payments or something?
|
This is the "OH SNAPS!!" thread of the year!
|
The guy was cool and they have this crazy tow things that makes it so no wheels are on the ground while they tow. I guess the bank that Brian used never called the repo place to tell them that Brian paid it off. So it was still on their list of cars to get.

HOLY CRAP!!!! This is the WTF thread of the year.
Sorry Pete, I don't know what to say. Chase Auto Finance FTL! Hell, they even sent me the pink slip for it, so I know it is officially paid off from my end. |
HOLY CRAP! That sucks BAD! Good thing it all cleared up pretty easily tho!
|
I am on the phone with Chase Auto. I want to make sure that this crap doesn't happen again to someone else.
|
Holly crap! I bet that was an interesting evening Pete. I'm glad everything got straightened out.
PS- PM conversation is severely lacking Pete. |
So if they thought the car was still Brian's, how did they know to come to your place to get it?

I'm not sure how this would not technically be grand theft auto for the repo company. I guess they get away with a lot of crap. Not sure I would be so understanding. Or my ex. - damn she tears people a new asshole if they screw up like that. One time Jiffy Lube didn't tighten the drainplug enough (I was in France at the time), and she got stranded with an empty oilpan on the way to a Barney concert with the kids and their friends (no joke). Anyway she raised hell and we ended up with a big check for compensation. |

But as I've learned, it's probably best just to take the path of least resistance and move on with life. Going after someone if you're not really hurt by their actions is probably more trouble than it's worth. Hell, going after someone that *has* F'd you over is almost more trouble than it's worth 'cause the legal system in this country is out of control complicated. Justice is expensive. |
They were actually looking for a different PSM STI, and they spotted mine. Then they ran the stuff and figured out it was Brian's. It was actually Chase's fault, not the repo company. Going after a HUGE nationwide company is in no way worth it for the slight inconvenience I had this morning. They don't brush stuff off anymore. They would of spent thousands of dollars to make sure I didn't get the $100 of my time that was wasted. It's too bad thats how things work now a days.

But still... see Scott's comments above. Oh, and BTW - Chase sucks for many other reasons that I won't rant about here. |
Repo guys get special treatment because they work for banks, and banks are just better people than us citizens.
|
Chase Finance super sucks. It took me like 5 tries to pay off my wrx because they gave me a different amount each time. idiots.

The problem here is that the car was no longer the banks, so it was in fact theft, but the repo guys also filed w/ the PD before stealing it so I would imagine since they were acting in good faith with the law, it'd be pretty tough to get them rung up on GTA. |
Holly Crap, stop saying Holly Crap.

QFT. They quoted the wrong payoff to Golden 1 on Dave's car and it took me more than month to get the loan pushed through with more money out of my pocket. I finally got it registered in my name last week......heh. |
