hesitation at low rpms
i was wondering if anyone has ever noticed any hasitation or stuttering of the engine at lower rpms. it will only happen if i give it instant full throttle in say 3rd or 5th gear. its just a little thing that annoyes me sometimes..me being a perfectionist. i talked to the dealership and they were trying to give me some talk straight out of there ass about using cheap gas(which i use 91 + a can of octane boost), and the cars computer learning my driving habbits which i dont belive. i just think they will come up with anythin to avoid warrenty work. it dosent feel like anything bad at all. i just wanted some info. thanks

Start with the basics, check air, fuel & spark delivery. Check that the air filter is clean, throttle body is clean and operates smoothly, fuel injectors are working properly, spark plugs/plug wires/coil are firing strong.. it might need a tune-up if it hasn't had one in a while. After that move on to sensors... O2 sensor(s), throttle position sensor, intake air temp, coolant temp, etc... all of those sensors provide input to the engine computer in order to adjust air, fuel & spark delivery.

Have you done the grounding mod? That's the exact problem people are trying to solve by adding additional grounding. The basic idea is that with better grounds, the sensors will give better info to the ECU.
Check this out: http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...&threadid=1197 You prolly don't need a specific kit, as a trip to Radio Shack will get you the same stuff for way cheaper, as long as you have the tools/experience to cut and crimp wires. There's a lot of discussion about wether or not the grounding mod does anything... I did mine and never noticed a thing... but after looking at the pathetic factory grounding, I figured I might as well throw a few extra wires in there... not a tough job. |
i havent tried anygrounding mods yet. it felt almost like the spark plugs, but ive only got 7000 miles on it. im goin' bosch platnum 4, or the zex plugs here in a bit anyway ill see how that works out

The grounding kit will fix that it fixed in my car. I would not put any other plugs in besides NGK iridium IX they use them in the WRC rally car they are the same as the STI plugs.
