WTB: Best Buy Assassin's Creed Receipt

So my copy of Assassin's Creed got damaged, and Best Buy won't exchange it with out a receipt, which I no longer have. So if someone else bought it, and still has the receipt, can I borrow the receipt.

MPREZIV 2007-12-05 01:07 PM

 all I can do is laugh Bob...

sperry 2007-12-05 02:53 PM

Bob, just make a big stink in the Best Buy exchange line. Bring "your lawyer", i.e. some dude in a suit.

I think Jonny tried that. I don't know what the hell Best Buys deal is. I mean I bought the game at Best Buy, it has the Best Buy logo on it, but they won't take it back with out the receipt? It's stupid.

k-dogg39 2007-12-05 06:08 PM

Do you have one of those reward zone cards? I would assume you don't, but if so and you used it you can pull up your past purchases online, but I am not sure if they would take that as a receipt anyway.

khail19 2007-12-05 06:09 PM

How does a video game get damaged in a way that allows you to exchange it?

100_Percent_Juice 2007-12-05 07:05 PM

especially since all games are now in disc form.

Bob Danger 2007-12-05 08:13 PM

That's besides the point, I'm just trying to save a friend 60 bucks here.

And what you do is break one of the tabs that hold the game in place so it looks like it rolled around the box during shipping. Works with CDs as well.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-12-05 08:37 PM

So your friend bought the game, didn't like it, then decided to return it without the receipt?

No I bought the game love the hell out of it, let a friend borrow it, and while he had it, it got scratched and will no longer play.

wrxkidid 2007-12-05 09:28 PM

Make your friend buy you a new one!!

I hate that sort of stuff.

That's kind of a fucked up thing to do considering it was an accident, real friends help each other out. Not screw them out of 60 dollars for something that wasn't their fault. Besides it's a video game, I'm not that worried about it.

I'll get more pleasure out of scamming a faceless multi-million dollar corporation, that sells poorly made, overpriced, plastic trinkets made by 3rd world kids, then I would playing the game anyways. That kind of shit helps me sleep at night.

wrxkidid 2007-12-05 11:03 PM

Well you didn't say that it was an accident.

I agree real friends help eachother out, but if your a real friend and you screw something up that is your friends property and it was your fault then the helpful thing to do would be to fix it...but in this situation thats not the answer.

Dean 2007-12-05 11:11 PM

Many manufacturers will replace damaged media for free or a reasonable fee! Try that.

NevadaSTi 2007-12-06 09:26 AM

Friend or no friend, if I borrow something and it gets messed up, I fix it at my expence. That is what a true friend does, even if it was an accident.

sperry 2007-12-06 11:31 AM

How about just going and buying a new copy. Exchanging the busted one with the new receipt, then selling the unopened copy for $10 under the retail price. Then you're only out $10.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-12-06 11:42 AM

He wouldn't even have to sell the new one because he loves the game and would keep it. winwin

Loves it enough to play two copies at once?

How would he have 2 copys?
Currently has busted copy 1
Then buys new copy 1
Then uses receipt for new copy to return busted copy -1
=1

Bob Danger 2007-12-06 12:25 PM

So, buy another one take the game out put the old game in and return it?

That's not a bad idea.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-12-06 12:27 PM

Yeah, you can do it with cars and pets too.

Current has busted copy 1
Then buys new copy +1
Then uses receipt for new copy to return busted copy -1
At the conclusion of the return, Best Buy hands him a new copy because they don't do refunds, only replacements on opened games (last time I checked) + 1

= 2

I'm pretty sure he'll be returning the opened one. The unopened one isn't the one his friend busted.
