Continous Check Engine Light

So, for about 2 weeks my check engine light has been on. It we stay off when I turn my car on. Then Five minutes later it will be on. Any ideas what it could be.
My faja said it could be telling me to get my 60,000 mile check up.

Did you just hit 60,000 miles?

I have about 156,XXX miles on it. One of my friends says it might be an O2 sensor.

I think a few of the guys here have obd2 scanners. . . see if someone can bring one to a meet so you can pull the code.

AutoZone does pull codes for free according to my co-worker who just got a code pulled there...not sure if they all do it though.

Would someone like to bring an obd2 scanner to the meet next thursday?

JonnydaJibba 2008-01-24 04:09 PM

Go to Autozone already!

Libila 2008-01-24 10:44 PM

Yeah dude, just go to Auto Zone and have them pull the code. It was free last time I did it, which was like three years ago...

Tripperfx3 2008-01-25 12:46 AM

Its still free . I guarantee its your O2 sensor going out as well. Just FYI get a universal O2 sensor as it'll save you a butt load of money (at least it did for my Evo).

MPREZIV 2008-01-25 07:48 AM

It's really too bad that this thread is a couple weeks old already, and I pulled the code at the meet that week...

Dean 2008-01-25 08:36 AM

He should still go to Autozone and get it done dammit! :)

Scott can you ever make a serious post?

MPREZIV 2008-01-31 03:48 PM

It was a knock sensor code. Which I found odd, since they rarely turn on CEL's...

FYI the Autozone near the corner of Wells and S. Virginia does the scanning for free, but will not do it after dark for some reason....It is a one of the cheapest scanners I have ever seen, but it does work!

Road_Kill 2008-02-16 08:29 AM

Dude!!!! The knock sensor is the only thing we ever see turn the cel on in that era car... Impreza, forester and legacy.... The A/F sensor is the second biggest.
