Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Sperry was referring to the motor.

Nope. Just curious as to what he was planning on using the car for. Built motor + widebody = show car usually.

Depending on when i get the car done will determine what events i will do. I would like to do the redline time attack events in the future. I know the first event is in March and hopefully the car will be done before hand with enough time to test and tune at Reno Fernly. I have desire to show the car. The interior is flat black and not the best looking car ever. I did some things that I probably did not need to do to the car for example wide body and bbk but I thought it would be a fun project and have the means to do it so I said what the hell... I still want this car streetable so I am not doing to crazy of a motor build. It will have some head work but I will keep stock cams ext.... I am just trying to get this project done fast enough to have some fun this year. I will be starting a full race car after I get this one done... hopefully March first.

I dont plan on have more the 500whp at any time in this car. I tend to be harder on cars then most people though... while i have the car apart i mind as well do driveline and axles.

Sam, why not just upgrade the turbo and do supporting mods? 400 whp wouldn't be too difficult to achieve while also saving time and money on internal work.

If it were me I'd skip the widebody kit too. You can fit some decent size tires without widening the fenders. The BBK isn't a bad idea though, especially if your plan is being on the track quite a bit.

I know you have the means to do all the things you listed, but if you want to compete why not spend the money on your driving instead of things that you don't really need?

why not? if you could afford to completely mod a car why not make it the best? I am not into half assing it. not putting the widebody on is out of the question because i already have it... and the wheels which would never fit on without the widebody.
i know 400whp can be done without building internals but i want something that is going to be strong. i want something that is going to be 400whp for extended periods of time on a track. If its tore apart why not build it. +how many subaru's do you see around here? a million!!! i want one unique. I am not building a show car but i want people to see cool subaru's and then i want them to see MY subaru.

Unless you bought a ridiculously low offset, those will fit without a widebody.

Not very easily if your lowering the car for a track setup though.

Nice build up, looks like the APR widebody? how's it fit on the 04/05? the one we did on our new car with the 06/07 front end fit like ass!

Mike

Bob Danger 2008-01-11 06:07 PM

Ok I was just wondering why it was in the tech section, because up until my last post I saw nothing technical about it.
