best way to move

So guys, here is my situation. I have to get a s2000 hard top from LA to reno SOON. Now, ideally the best way to transport it, is just by driving the s2000 down there, installing it, and driving back. BUT, i dont have an s2000 to drive at this time. long story, but i just dont have one. So, unless someone has an s2k that i could borrow, i guess that idea is out.

so, what is the best way to transport the hard top? i was thinking of renting a moving vehicle but that is REALLY expensive becuase of the miles. Anyone know of somewhere i could rent one that is unlimited miles? OR do you have any of you have any other suggestions?

i'm willing to spend a few hundred dollars and willing to drive it.. no problem.

please let me hear your thoughts! THANKS

If you're willing to spend a few $100 bucks... just ship it! Then you don't have to do anything but pick it up at the shipping depot.

Rent a pickup truck or van from Enterprise or whoever. $45 a day, unlimited mileage. Shipping charges will be more expensive than rental + gas, and then you have to hope that it doesn't get damaged.

Good point... a plain old mini-van would work just fine with the seats removed... and would protect the top very well. Do you know anyone with a minivan and a desire to take a road trip to LA?

Trade vehicles with somebody who owns a pickup for a couple days would be even cheaper.

i'm not sure that a 15 passenger van would fit the hardtop.. simply because of its width.. but all the places i've checked online say .99$ a mile after the rental fee. i'll call around tomorrow though

Are you looking at u-haul type places, or car rentals? Most car rental agencies don't bother charging for mileage.

i was looking at Uhaul type places.. i thought they were all the same. i wonder if it will fit in that van.. that would be awesome!

ok i'm gonna try to rent a pickup from enterprise.. the bigger one and hope that works out. i looked at some in the walmart parking lot and i think that'll work better than the 15 passenger

I have an S. You can borrow the car, drive it down there, install it, drive back, then leave it on my car. Mission accomplish.
