BMW 135i

I believe the 135i is coming in AWD soon (135ix?), and with a price similar to an STI, and it being a 2-door coupé... looks pretty nice to me. Your thoughts?

I like this.

A 135 coupe with some of the tii parts on it.

I have just been reading about the 123d ... 50+ MPG turbo diesel with 200hp/300 ft.lbs.

It's a pity we will never see it here :(

Kevin M 2008-01-25 07:43 PM

That's okay, Subaru finally debuted their turbodiesel. Similar power from a 2.0 liter, supposed to show up in a couple years here in the Forester and Impreza.

There is a good chance I'll have driven a 135i by the end of next week. One of my coworkers wanted a "more grown up STi" and put himself on the waiting list for the 135 last year. The dealership that he's going through has a demo in and is letting the waiting list customers drive it as much as they want. He's already driven it once but he wants to get it for another hour and have me drive it and tell him what I think.

Bmw is bringing the 335d here this year. Twin turbo diesel. I don't believe they have plans for the 135xi though.

The one that would interest you folks for autox will the lightweight tii. It's a concept but an extremely finished concept as BMW probably does not want to use the name M1 for this 1 series.

Kevin M 2008-01-27 12:54 PM

I think it has more to do with pimping the 1 series as the revival of the 2002.

cody 2008-01-27 03:26 PM

135ix for $40K? Only if she's 5' 3". *whip crack*

I like the looks of this 3 door.

And the M1 name was used for another car.

I know. But... I still think it has more to do with the 2002 thing. :)

You are definately correct. I was referring to the performance version M series. They probably will not make an M line with the 1 series like they made with the 3, 5 & 6 lines. They will probably go the tii route like yesteryear with the 2002 as the M1 was, at the time, considered an ultra high performance, low production car.

I love how the tii is spelled backwards on the front bumper. Reverse stickers have gotta be good for at least 11 hp!

What is surprising to me is that the 1 series is only 150 lbs less than the 3 series. I'm not sure how much more nimble that will make the car. It's funny how much BMW's have grown in size. My 335 is the same dimensions of the last generation 5 series. The new 1 series is the same size as the 3 series two generations back. It will still look large next to a 2002.

BTW I have been really impressed with the xi in the snow so far. It is a tank with the Revo 1 snow tires.

I got to drive one today :D

After some looking around... I think Mike's got the right idea:

http://www.zercustoms.com/news/image...BMW-123d-2.jpg

I'd love a 123xd hatch, if there's such a thing. BMW build quality/luxury, hatchback versatility, 200hp/300ftlbs, 50mpg, AWD... and it's only about as ugly as the new STi! Where do I sign up!?

I hate to say it, but in many ways it looks better than the new STI.

It looks like a cross between an STi, an M-coupe, and a VW GTI.

cody 2008-01-30 01:50 PM

Absolutely better.

Nick Koan 2008-04-02 04:10 PM

http://www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-give...een-light.html

tii has been greenlit!

And a 3-series version too.
