back to stock?
i heard my old evo is going back to stock... sad to hear such a thing
|
I'm trying.
I don't think it will be easy. We'll see what Dev and the guys can do. I still have to find a stock exhaust.:( |
Sucks.
|
so are you looking to do a full detune back to stock? or just tired of the lag.
i mean you could go to a 20G sized turbo which would be alot better for autocross. BUT if you're looking to sell the car and part it out, that's a different story. if you're looking to ditch the intake manifold and some other parts (like that boost controller), i know someone who would probably be willing to take it off your hands. the cams are a little out dated.. the new cosworth cams are supposedly unbeatable and they are the hot item now as far as cams go. |
I'm just trying to get the intake, exhaust manifolds, and cams back to stock for now.
The major engine power adders. |

if you do take out the cams, you'll have to take out the head gasket as well.. the one i have in there is a few mm larger than stock.. so you'll need to swap out the head gasket and get a head resurfacing as well.. =( when is your appt down there?
|
EVO parts you say?
|
fuk JC, what you need is the new Full Race evo twin scroll gt30.76 kit (hpc coated manifold and dp black) with the new vertical flow intercooler.
|
Anything else Tyson needs to know about putting the car back to stock? lol.
|
Just remember to wash your hands before you touch anyone else's car. We don't want this to spread.
|
I say give me your turbo and we can build a custom gt3076r kit for a toy tacoma!!!!
What cams are in that beast. Im not gonna lie, this was a fun car to ride in on the AutoX course. Set up well and it really didn't lag that badly. When it hit full boost it was like a kick in the damn pants. I thought my head was gonna go through the seat. Fun car. Are you gonna turn the caddy into a track monster? I say you just swap the motors and sell it to some tool who doesn't know the difference. |
i dont think there will be too much trouble changing it back to stock.. basically from what i remember.. he'll need to do the following.
- replace head gasket - head refresh - put in stock cams (i believe my stock valvesprings and retainer set can stay) - swap out turbo manifold - swap out intake manifold - swap out turbocharger - find stock dp and exhaust - swap ECU - remove MAP sensor - take out oil catch tank - replace upper IC pipe with stock + add recirculating valve back in - remove vacuum block - take out gauges, heads up display and boost controller I have no doubt they'll be able to do it.. but how long it would take.. i dont know.. i assume they do stuff like that for customers pretty frequently.. - |
A guy at my work might have some stock parts his brothers EVo is all hopped up.
|
Well the car is down there for a week. Dev didn't seem too worried about getting it mostly back to stock. He'll give me a call Monday with news after tearing into it.
Mike, I saw the red S2000 down there. |
