Help with Color Calibration on an LCD Monitor?

I just got a new monitor and the color is off. Is there a trick to getting the color right, or a website that I can go to? I don't think I can print out color swatches because then I would be banking on the color calibration of my printer. I would then have to deal with the lighting in my office room. I don't know, it just seems like there is too much pink on this forum, at least more then there was with my old monitor.

I just use a variety of images - a mix of photos and art from various familiar sources - and tweak until everything looks just about right.

Do you have photoshop? It comes w/ an ICC calibration tool that should do the trick.

Or you could hit up google and search for color calibration tools and try some of the links... there's gotta be a website out there that will give you some help.

But if you go into your screen's menu and just set the color mode to the brighter white setting, that'll probably be good enough... unless you're doing print media work and need truly accurate color reproduction (in which case, unless you've got a $2000 flatpanel, color correction won't be enough help anyway).

Ah yes. I forgot about the tool in photoshop.

You may also be able to download a color profile for your display and add it to the advanced settings in the Display control panel. I'd actually start there before making major adjustments to your display.
