California Mille 2008

As I traveled down the east shore of Tahoe this afternoon I was greeted by a string of vintage sports cars, MBenz 300SL's, Austin Healys, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos, Talbots, Old Old Bentleys, Vintage Race cars i.e. 1949 Studebaker and 1952 Hudson Hornet, Ferrari's etc.... They were headed to the Hyatt at Incline Village for an overnight stay on the first of five legs of the California Mille then they're off to the northern California coast. I'm going back tomorrow morning with camera in hand. The drivers meeting is at 8:45 with departure at 9:00AM. If you're in the area this is worth checking out. I'll try to post some picks tomorrow morning.

Among the 76 cars in this tour there was not 1, but 2, 1928 Bentleys that had been brought over from Switzerland to participate. These are quite rare as they were built before Bentley was acquired by Rolls Royce in 1931.

Man, those Alfa's are beautiful!

And rare or not, I have a hard time getting excited by the really old cars. I like my old cars to be at least post-war.

What's that bright green one? Is that a Bugatti? It's awesome! Straight 8 under that long hood?

Beautiful!

The bright green one is a Jaguar C-type. Straight six -- the brits just like really long front ends on their cars for some reason.

Nice looking cars!

Cool cars, but again I will have to agree with Scott (seems to be a theme lately) I always like a good clean muscle car era car.
