hey

Came across you guys while searching for ...well, sti's for sale in Reno lol. I have a 04 wrx at the moment and am debating selling it for an sti or not. Thinking about meeting up with you guys one night. Where/when do you meet now exactly?

Nick Koan 2008-04-30 02:23 PM

Welcome!

Tamarack Junction on S. Virginia, Thursday's at 7:00pm. Come on out.

Dean 2008-04-30 02:32 PM

The sticky thread in this forum almost always has the current meet location in the first post.

Welcome.

tysonK 2008-04-30 02:42 PM

Have you considered an Evo?

100_Percent_Juice 2008-04-30 03:05 PM

^I think everyone does, right before they get a subaru.

bign 2008-04-30 05:55 PM

LOL well said.

I have been a Subaru guy for awhile. Had an outback as my first car when I lived in Alaska. I know so much about them it would be hard for me to get something different. That said, I am a fan of the 04/05 WRX/STI. The 06 and beyond started to get ugly and I hate the new hatchback. I think the EVO X looks great and is a decent car but I'm not going to be buying anything new so if I did get one it would be a few years down the line. In the meantime, if I need to go really fast I get on my GSX-R.

Spoken like a true RS owner... I'm proud of you son!

The 06 front end has really grown on me since its release - particularly since the release of the 08 non-STi. . . and my preference in tails should be obvious :P The lines along the sides of the 06 are a little nicer than before, as well. The wheel wells are shaped a bit more evenly and seem to balance better front to back.

But I'm the odd one out, not really even having a true RS. ;)

As the owner of... [counting to self] now 6 'classic' Imprezas I say anything without bugeyes is cool.

cody 2008-05-02 01:16 PM

^Right, except for the one in the 2nd pic here: http://www.crucialracing.com/images/...s_pictures.php

sperry 2008-05-02 02:13 PM

You guys are smoking crack.

The only "classic" RS that really counts is this one:

I don't really like calling them 'classic' it was just easier than typing "'93-'01 Imprezas." :p

Great, so now I can change my profile location to: "a driveway full of classic vehicles" ?

bign 2008-05-03 06:30 PM

Within a few weeks, somebody had hit my front end and smashed my drivers side doors. So classic or not my car is looking rather rough right now :(

wrxkidid 2008-05-12 09:56 PM

bummer man. hope it gets fixed soon!

I would say go for the STi, but it all depends. If you are a drag race kind of guy, I might get lynched for this, but i would go for an evo. It makes gobs of power for cheap compared to a subaru. but thats just my two cents. they are actually really reliable as long as you keep up on the maintinence.

Good luck with your decision.

I noticed you were talking about your gsxr. I am trying to buy a bike this summer any advice. looking to spend 3500-4500.

bign 2008-05-13 03:57 PM

Depends, have you ridden anything before or is this your first bike? Do you already have a license?

I would look for something 03+. It's hard to reccomend because each bike feels different to different people and each bikes has it's ups and downs.

wrxkidid 2008-05-13 06:20 PM

I have ridden dirt bikes and quads all my life, but no street bikes. I definatley know what they can do and respect them though, I worked with a guy who broke his femur on one. What year did the gsxrs go to FI instead of carburated?

don't be a wussy

wrxkidid 2008-05-13 08:54 PM

yea f that haha. those things dont handle that well in bike standards plus I would rather get a 600 and then maybe someday move up to a 1000, no 1300 for me. maybe a turbod 750 but who knows.
