Virtually Race against F1 drivers?
This is a crazy concept but it sounds pretty sweet. Basically takes GPS data and transmits it to a game where you can join in on the racing.
Supposedly there is code to take care of overtaking (on screen, the real racer would overtake your virtual vehicle, rather than just pass through) and when a real racer and a virtual racer collide (they say the real car always drives away, but the virtual one is another story). http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7440658.stm |
This has already been done, at least with hot lapping ghost cars. I could have sworn in the past there was a game that let you grab Shumacher's hot lap for a track and try to run against it. And I know that Richard Burns Rally lets you go up against his real times for the stages.
Making it "live" though is pretty cool. I think though, I'd still rather watch the race, *then* get in the sim and try to hang... though there's something very exciting about the lights going out live and you being on the grid. |
