Nick Koan 2008-12-15 06:15 PM

exactly

Good, the WRC under the s2000 rules will suck even more than it does now. Let it fail and someone else will start up a better series. The FIA is a joke.

doubleurx 2008-12-15 08:15 PM

Man I just can't imagine WRC with everyone driving S2000's YO!

sperry 2008-12-15 09:48 PM

Don't forget to factor in SCCA and Speed Channel's part in this whole fiasco... just as rally was becoming a top level spectator sport in the US, SCCA drops their series, and Speed drops WRC.

Idiots... with US viewership pushed by the whole X-Games level exposure, rally could have been big here if they bothered to continue to market it.

Jesubi11 2008-12-15 11:46 PM

Subaru is to rally as awd is to Subaru... oh wait...

Nick Koan 2008-12-16 09:29 AM

Its official.

MattR 2008-12-16 12:08 PM

Except for those little agencies called the USFS and BLM......they are to U.S. off-road motorsports like the EPA is to efficient diesel cars.

sybir 2008-12-16 03:33 PM

No, Rim was totally cool in '06 when USFS and BLM shut down all the stage roads and the entire rally was run in the dirt oval section of the Palmdale fairgrounds.

Take the largest (spectator) rally event on the west coast, reward corporate sponsorship with towing 100+ cars leaving spectators freezing in the pouring rain with no cell service in the Angeles mountains, give it a couple years to die, and when people still try to keep it going, restrict it to fairgrounds.

Yup.

I don't know why rally never took off in the US. :(
My heart goes out to all the guys trying to keep it going in the face of the BS.

The good news now, is that Prodrive should have the resources free to buy the Honda F1 team.

I guess they should get a little experience in the sport before they're the spec engine supplier in 2010.
