We've been upgraded!

...to vB 3.8.x!

This new version adds lots of "Community" features. I have not opted to enable the groups feature, but we are running it over at RenoSCCA.org. If folks like it, let me know and I will enable it, but I just don't think we'll get much use out of it.

One feature we are enabling are the user Albums! You can access your album via your User CP and use it to upload pictures for sharing w/ everyone.

We've also got the nifty new user profiles that allow profile messages and the like.

Feel free to play around with the new features and let me know if there's anything broken, or any settings that should be changed, or even if we should just turn off some of the new stuff because it's adding complexity for no gain.

Personally, I haven't played w/ the new features much, so your feedback is appreciated!

Finally, the upgrade has allowed us to reopen registrations, so hopefully no more spammers, and no more turning away people that are too lazy to email me for an account! ;)

Is it just me, or are pictures loading slowly? Matt's wheels on car loaded line by line as if it was doing real time compression of a larger image. Since Matt already viewed them, shouldn't they have already been cached smaller on the server?

Off to check out other new stuff.

Now my profile interface looks like the one I have on NASIOC. What version were we running before?

Those pictures are not thumbnailed. They're 3504px × 2336px resized in-line via the [img=xxx] tag. They take just as long as any other 8 megapixel image takes to download.

Whole thing seems a bit slower? But I am on iPhone so could just be AT&T. Sounds like the new features are cool, when I get to see on a real computer.

Page loads seem a tad slower to me too. Nothing like I-Club though.

I haven't noticed any speed issues... then again IGT's firewall makes all internet access slow as shit.

This page loads hella quick now. Maybe it's that new Nvidia 285 that I just slapped in.

cody 2009-02-25 03:23 PM

Yah, any lag I saw yesterday seems gone now. :)

I turned of the new thread tagging feature. I wonder if that helped.

It does feel quicker... Did you put a couple stickers on the server? Those "Intel Inside" swirls are worth 5Mhz!

SteveM 2009-02-25 07:24 PM

yes, very much faster today...
