Bronze powdercoated wheels on a yellow car?

Not a fan, sorry. I would rock white though (if they didn't get dirty so fast).

Are you kidding? That looks like ass.

The bronze looks like black w/ a tinge of the car's body color. The white looks like... uh... ass, like I already said.

 I actually don't like either all that much. I think bronze paint would look okay (like on the S202), but PC'd gold and bronze always looks odd to me.

I'm confused. The method of color application makes bronze look good or bad to you?

cody 2009-03-11 03:39 PM

Yes. For example, my black PC'd rims have a tinge of blue to them in certain light. Black painted rims wouldn't have that issue. Bronze and gold PC'd rims often have a green tinge to them as compared to their painted counterparts.

Uh, only if you pick a color with those tinges in them. The only difference between powder coat and paint is that powder coat is delivered dry then baked to bond, while paint is delivered wet and evaporates to bond. They can both be any color you want them to be.

If you say so.

Yeah, this is especially apparent with black because there are so many different shades of black.

May I suggest that someone split off this discussion from Matt's FS thread. I feel kind of bad about talking shit about PCing in this thread. I know, doesn't sound like me at all. :P

Plus w/ P/Cing, there are tons of finishes since matte/gloss is just an additive to the powder, so you can pick how matte/glossy the final result is by percentage. Chances are, that's why P/C wheels tend to look different than painted wheels... they're probably a 10% matte or something that you simply never see done w/ paint which is usually only in matte, semi-gloss, or high-gloss.

Good idea... this thread has legs!

cody 2009-03-11 04:08 PM

Anybody have some other S202 pics? I didn't find much on Google.

WRX06TR 2009-03-11 04:41 PM

um...the posted pic isn't an S202...the pic is an 07 Spec C Type RA-R.

This is an S202...I bet you knew this, I just wanted to sound smart...

The original reference was from this post in another thread (which this was a part of until it was split out).

cody 2009-03-11 05:02 PM

Meh, I want to like it, but I just don't think I do. I wouldn't mind a darker bronze or something like a gun metallic with gold flecs...like Java Black Pearl or whatever that Suby color's called.

cody 2009-03-11 05:12 PM

I still think these would be the hotness for my car.

They could ditch the V2 lip and side skirts/spats and I wouldn't miss them.

Special edition WRXs are special enough already. That's like putting a body kit on a 22b.

zpeed 2009-03-11 06:02 PM

I like the yellow like speed yellow in 911 Turbo. But I think my red car is enough for me.

Word, those do look hot. I'm coming around to the bronze wheels.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-11 08:21 PM

V2 lip stays. Beefs up the front end.

Actually, that's a replica - it's an '03 WRX with a bunch of add-ons.

WRX06TR 2009-03-12 12:54 PM

Oh...well, still looks sick..

cody 2009-03-16 11:07 AM

This car's on the NASIOC homepage right meow.
