WTB AFtermarket Midpipe

Preferably 3''.. doesnt matter what brand but i don't want custom made :| let me know what you have.

cody 2009-03-23 07:29 AM

I take it you have a shorty DP and are looking for a catless midpipe (AKA racepipe)?

02STI 2009-03-23 09:37 AM

umm no actually, i have a helix catless DP and was looking for a midpipe of a catback exhaust(hks, greddy, idk something like that) not race pipe, something with a resonator cuz i heard they're really loud with racepipe..

Oh okay. I think that's commonly called the rear-pipe. I have a stock one from my 03 WRX if you're interested.

02STI 2009-03-23 09:45 AM

oh yea i see, its also in the middle :D well i need aftermarket one, but thanks.

ScottyS 2009-03-23 01:07 PM

Yeah, I need a 3" section as well at some point. The "cat-back" but without the "axle-back" on that diagram.

I'm assuming that is what you are looking for as well.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-23 01:12 PM

The rear pipe looks like it would be easy as hell to make since its a straight piece.

yea but then it would be a race pipe, unless you can make it with a resonator, i just dont want something hella loud is all..

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-23 02:08 PM

you can buy universal resonators from summit.

true but idk.. im not down to get custom made..

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-23 05:54 PM

If you have an aftermarket DP then you are in to custom made.

hmm.. i doubt it, i have one and it bolts up to stock exhaust nice. and if after markets bolt on to stock DP then it should mount to my after market DP also :?: lol.. that makes sense to me, but idk about everyone else lol..

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-24 09:41 AM

Your helix DP was custom made and then mass produced. A custom rear pipe can be made and fit just fine. Buy a straight piece of pipe, resonator, and 2 flanges and have a shop weld it together.

02STI 2009-03-24 09:46 AM

yea, that is all true. But i think i would waste more money doing all that then buying one from someone :|

You're pretty much the only person around here who defines custom as "not stock" whereas the rest of us understand he's referring to locally fabricated one-off pieces.

I understood what he meant Kevin M. The problem with his thinking is that he thinks a part that is not made specifically by Helix, COBB, Perrin, etc. is going to have problems or be half-assed.

But that's not what you said. You were arguing a purely semantic point that had nothing to do with what he says he wants.

well this is how i see it, i rather buy one from a company that makes them all day long "aftermarket" even though they are custom made (everything in the world was custom made), than me trying to put pieces together out of some pipes.. but its cool that you have your opinions too.. it doesnt really matter to me because its gonna be for me, you can do your own custom exhaust but i dont want to make a custom exhaust..

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-24 07:51 PM

That's fine. The only reason I posted what I did is to give you another option.

sedonabugeye 2009-03-24 08:16 PM

just buy a catback and call it good!

No man, i want to keep the sti axle back, thats why i want just the midpipe..

Kevin M 2009-03-24 08:38 PM

If you're keeping a 2.5" axleback, you don't need a 3" midpipe.

02STI 2009-03-24 08:48 PM

yea thats true, well idk then, im just stupid

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-24 09:10 PM

might need to go ...gulp... custom.
