Squeeling metal scraping noise

Ok - I have an 03 wrx sedan. Recently, whenever I make a right turn I hear a metal scraping/squeeling noise coming from the left wheel area. I am thinking its a wheel bearing - but would it make that noise only during a right hand turn? I have recently replaced the brakes and rotors in the front and the noise was the same before and after.

Usually if there's turn-specific noise on the outside corner like that, it's either a bearing or axle c/v joint. c/v's are usually a "tick-tick-tick" noise I believe, so wheel bearing is a pretty good guess.

Try putting that corner in the air, and see if you can wobble the wheel back and forth a little.

Well, it started out as a 'scrape...scrape...scrape' noise, not a 'tick tick tick'.... but it has evolved into a nearly constant scraping noise during a right hand turn. I will get that corner in the air tonight and see if there is any play.

Thanks

Check your brake pads too maybe? I'd think the noise would change when applying the brakes if that were the issue though.

check for possible debris like a rock or something between the rotor and backing plate.

Bad wheel bearings can cause the rotors to contact the brake caliper/bracket also. I had a rear bearing go on my wagon and what gave it away was the wear on the rotor from contacting the bracket. It wasn't making much noise up to that point.
