Bob needs IDE HD >= 120Gb, 512MB PC2100-2700

Bob totally infected his machine with porpoise venereal diseases, but it is not that bad of a machine and worth rebuilding.

Anybody got a spare 120Gb or larger IDE drive lying around and/or a 512MB stick of PC2100-PC2700 DDR RAM lying around?

I have a 256MB stick I will donate if nobody has a 512MB go on the RAM.

He needs more storage for his Dolphin Porn, so I was going to drop a larger or second drive in. With everyone going SATA, figured there might be a few IDE drives lying around. All I have spare right now are 60GB 5400 RPM drives. :(

That bad eh? Just set it aside until next month, I'll go source parts for it when I've got some spare cash.

No, just trying to do some upgades while I have it open if people have something lying around.

It is actually a decent P4 2.5Ghz system with on-board RAID controller and a Radeon 9800 Pro video card. It could just use a bit more RAM and disk space.

Worlds fastest gaming machine it is not, but very usable desktop for surfing, running iTunes, watching video, etc...

Some games might not even be bad on it.

Your porn, I mean data is safe. Trying to see if I can get the OS running again without having to wipe and start over still. At least one very nasty Trojan got in and has it's tendrils everywhere. Not looking great, but reload should get you a significantly faster and more stable machine. Full fragmented disks like you had are SLOW... I found a copy of XP home that works with your key, so covered there.

Ha! I remember when I did a swipe and wipe for Jonny like 3 years ago. Good times. :P

Bob Danger 2009-04-24 03:16 PM

I like porn, as does Jonny.

Who doesn't? Avast is free and kicks ass at defending against viruses.

Dean 2009-04-24 04:06 PM

That is what I use on a couple machines.

I consciously use different things on different machines in the house. I think Bob had AVG.

There is some stuff that can slide by a lot of them though. Double clicking an executable you got from a torrent or any unreliable source can do some pretty sneaky stuff to bypass most any AV software.

No HDs or RAM sitting around?

Yah, I've seen sites say things like, watch this free video of Jennifer Aniston screwing a giraffe for free, just install this codec!

You do have to exercise some restraint when it comes to installing anything (sorry Jennifer), but other than that Avast is lighter and better at defending against junk than AVG in my experience.

I have a dead machine in my closet that might have a small IDE drive. I'll take a look when I get home.

No 120 hdd's, but I might have some ram. I'll look.

That sounds like it's plenty fast, and will run quite a few games on that card.

I'd pay to see that.

I have nothing of use. Sorry.
