WRX Sedan vs. Wagon
I am leaning towards buying the sedan as I haven't had a sedan for over 15 years. (I've owned vans and Subaru Wagons).
What are your thoughts regarding the benefits of each version? Thanks |
I love the wagon. Plus you are more of a minority that way. Those sedan's are like friggin cockroaches.
You may occasionally get called 'grocery getter'....but no one says anything when everyone needs to haul stuff around. I fit a 4 tires and 4 rims back there and took them to get balanced. That made it worth it. 8) This one is a nice one to look at - http://www.seccs.org/forums/viewtopi...ighlight=wagon |
I had a wagon (02) before getting my STI, I loved it. It was great for everything. It was fast too! You can do more witha wagon than with a sedan, as far as use goes. I don;t htinl there are any drawbacks to having a wagon, and to this day they still carry that "sleeper" element to them.

The big drawback is the narrower width and smaller fenders. The sedan's got a slightly better suspension setup, namely the spherical endlinks on the front swaybar.
Plus you can put 225 width tires on a sedan no problem, whereas the wagon requires 215's or you can run into rubbing. I'm also just partial to the wider fender flares on the sedan... I always thought the wagon looked too narrow. If the wagon had the same flares as the sedan, I'd be driving one today. 'Course this can be fixed with rolled fenders. Finally the lack of the rear deck on the wagon means you get a lot more body flex from the rear end in the wagon. A rear tower strut will help this alot. That said, the wagon's usefulness can outweight it's deficiencies for most people. Plus you can really tune out most of the issues... it just costs you more money to do it. I got the sedan mostly for asthetic reasons. |
