WTB (maybe): can style exhaust
 

I'm looking for an angled, can style exhaust like a TurboXS RFL or Apex'i N1. I want one that is angles to the side and up. I just need an axleback and I was wondering what kind of prices I would be looking at. It doesn't matter if it is for an RS or a WRX. Thanks

My friend can probably make you one for cheap if you want to just buy the muffler of your choice from ebay or summit.

That would be cool. Mandrel bent? About how much $ do you think? Is that an open invitation for whenever I feel like buying a muffler and hitting you up?

Summit has mandrel bent pieces that can be welded together. That's how Ansel made Alex's CBE.

That's also how I did my SVX's header-back exhaust.

My friend Sean made his STI exhaust from the summit racing pipe kit. If you get the pipe and muffler I am sure he would be happy to weld it up for a decent price at the shop and that way you can get the exact angle that you are looking for.

Haha cuz I'm sooper rice ;) I dunno I just love the look of them on subarus. My buddy had one on his bugeye but he sold it and I realize how much I liked it. I feel like the fact that our cars don't sound like a 2 stroke makes it a lil less ricey, but others may disagree. I don't wanna spend too much on it in case I don't like the look.

Joel: I have a buddy that can weld in his garage, but thanks for the offer. If that guy can fab up the whole axleback for around the price of the piping at summit, I might go with him. Lemme know

I've got an angled exhaust and love it...

i've stuck tube together on a few subarus. most have been catless turbo back. best sounding muffler i've used yet is the dynatech oval. summit carries it. not well suited for n1 rice because it's shape and only comes in mild steel. but the noise it makes is magnificent. carries the the turbo swirl noise well and you can hear the pulses. blah, blah, blah...

i have a ricer muffler on the side of my house that you can have for free if you come get it. came off a apexi n1 tbe. polished(when new sevral k miles ago) stainless steel const, 3" (~80mm) in, 4.5" (~120mm) out. i can also stick it on your car for $.

by far the best deal is the e-bay cheap-o cat back. stainless steel and they make it n1 looking. i cant make ss exhaust on my own car that cheap. even the higher end mfrs of cat back(like apexi) use low grade ss and will still rust.

Dave: The whole point is I want one super cheap, cuz I already have a Stromung catback and I love the sound, I just want it to look more rice lol. I want something cheap just in case I don't like it, I can switch back to the stromung having not wasted much money. And I don't really like the look of the invidias. I'm real particular about my rice cans lol. (and if any of this came off as me being an asshole I didn't mean for it to, I just didn't know how to say it without being blunt)

Also, to you guys who made your own catback, where did you get the hangers? The ones on summit's site look hella weird and I dunno where else to get stuff like that.

Why don't you just cut the exhaust you have now at the end and then position the muffler where you want it and then weld it back up. That is what I would do since you already like the sound. You can't get much cheaper than that.

I wanna keep my stromung in tact in case I wanna switch back. So I just wanna make a cheap axleback that looks sweet :)

Thanks. I'm hoping to get the can from rubberbiscuitt and then either get the pipe from summit and have my buddy weld it, or see how much an exhaust shop would charge. I kinda wanna go with my buddy cuz I would have no problem telling him exactly how I want it lined up and stuff. Well see after I get the muffler and some $ together for the process. Plus, my buddy's in Europe for the next couple weeks. I'll be rice soon enough tho :D

Wait so you just want to build a custom axelback Robbie? That will bolt up to the midpipe from your stromung? So you can wake up and say, 'I wanna be a ricer today' or 'I wanna be styleish today'...you vain bastard. When you get those cams in let me know, even if i dont help with the install I want a ride after the install and tune!!!! I love your car, it may not be the fastest, but it looks good and for what it is it is a quick little bastard, I may end up with and RS and completely copying you if you don't mind. Even if you do, I still am going to do it so DEAL WITH IT!!!!! hahaha

Hey man, that means a lot coming from someone who has worked on so many cars, so thanks man! I'd prefer if you went with a different color, but if not, at least I'd know it's another badass with the same car instead of that middle aged woman I keep seeing around town in the stock version of my car :( lol

I might be watching ufc 99 at my buddy's place, but if not then fo sho.
