Testing the waters...VF39/43

Well, I am bored with the power in my car...its pretty set up suspension wise and I have been stage 2 for a while now. I was just seeing if anybody has an old Vf39 or VF43 laying around...not in a huge rush to buy just seeing if anybody local has a turbo they want to get rid of in the near future. Oh and if anybody has an STI TMIC or equivalent they don't need or want let me know. Thanks.

You don't want a 39... I have yet to see one that isn't cracked. MikeK's had started after only 5K miles or so I think. Not that they don't keep working, just that why buy something that has a known failure...

WRX06TR 2009-10-01 09:10 PM

Actually I really do want a 39, the crack is quite minimal and really won't hurt my goals. Plus used 39's go for less than $350. So why not? In my opinion I can't beat the bang for the buck upgrade of a VF39, $300 for a TMIC and $300 for a VF39 and close to 300 hp (well not on 91) but still a great upgrade. Plus my 06 injectors run equal to STi pinks so no need for an upgrade there.

That's awesome you don't have upgrade the injectors. Does that mean you don't need a fuel pump either?

100_Percent_Juice 2009-10-02 08:35 AM

I think he still would.

WRX06TR 2009-10-02 09:08 AM

The fuel pump is a recommended upgrade, but only really stressed for tuning. So before I get tuned I will pick up a Walbro and a Grimmspeed BCS and then I am set.

WRX06TR 2009-10-05 04:01 PM

Got the TMIC taken care of...still looking for a 39, I would really like to buy local...nobody has one?

renosubby 2009-10-05 04:33 PM

how much do you want to spend?

WRX06TR 2009-10-05 04:39 PM

...why? lol...um there are used 39's on NASIOC for $350...so $350 or less.

WRX06TR 2009-10-13 05:17 PM

Bump...I want to find a 39!

100_Percent_Juice 2009-10-13 05:29 PM

Have you posted a Wanted add on NASIOC and IWSTI?

WRX06TR 2009-10-13 05:34 PM

Yeah, I was just hoping to buy locally, I hate using paypal or sending money, I prefer face to face transactions. Seeing if anybody had a friend or somebody nearby that had a turbo and wanted to get rid of it.

szucchet 2009-10-13 06:38 PM

I will have one fir really cheap in like a month if your still looking pm my

WRX06TR 2009-10-13 09:50 PM

A month...hmmm, sure you don't want to make that sooner? lol

WRX06TR 2009-10-17 09:19 PM

Alright! I got a 39! All I need now is a Walbro...

GusGus91 2009-10-19 10:45 AM

What about that one in the Race car part out thread? or whatever it is. I thought I saw a fuel pump in there for $99

WRX06TR 2009-10-19 01:43 PM

I posted in that thread asking what kind of turbo inlet he had like a week ago and there still is no response. I ordered a Walbro and some gaskets from Rallysportdirect a few days ago. Just waiting to install everything this weekend...but I'm getting excited lol

cody 2009-10-19 03:40 PM

Sweet! Now save up some money this Winter so you can get a couple track days or at least autocrosses next year.

WRX06TR 2009-10-19 03:46 PM

Yeah! I can't wait to get to push the car at a few AutoX next summer. The only think I need now are tires, and hopefully I can pick up a set before the season starts.

GusGus91 2009-10-20 11:44 PM

I wanna try an autoX this next year. Hopefully my tires wont be crap after a day. haha

You should get out and get your feet wet this weekend at Stead Airport. Otherwise, you'll be waiting until April. :)
