2008+ WRX/STI Intake Development
4 Attachment(s)
KSTech has 2 new cold-air intakes for the 2008+ WRX/STI and the 2005+Legacy GT. Actually 12 intakes if you count the different MAF diameters and different MAF flanges. Well, actually more like 48 if you count all the different options like heat shields and filter choices.
First I would like to extend a big thank-you to Bobby and John Marley (" marleyjb ") for letting me use their 2008 STI on numerous occasions for measurements and fitment trials. A lot of you have met them and know they are a super-nice couple and certified car enthusiasts. Not only did they trust me to drive and wrench on their STI, but Bobby took pictures, and John held the flashlight for me on more than one occasion. Thanks very much you two. The first basic intake ("Type 1") is shown below. It comes in three MAF sizes:

73mm Type 2 with Perrin FMIC below. There this are some fitment questions with the Perrin piping. One customer's 83mm intake is not clearing, and I'm trying to figure it out.
EDIT: Turns out the "type 2" only works with the Perrin FMIC if you squish the hell out of the filter, so not recommended. See post below. |
Probably because its not chrome yet. That car looks pretty intense.
EDIT Matt, I totally spaced doing that picture for you. I will do it later today if you still need it. |

Woohoo - 1000th post!
So I had to come up with a different intake for the Perrin FMIC. Always a unique PITA with Perrin. A big thanks to 08awsti and sedonabugeye for letting me use the car and garage for measurement and fitment. Had to use my narrower filter to get it to fit without squishing the filter. No pics of it on a car yet. |
not a problem at all matt. seeing how you develop ypur intakes is pretty sweet!
