Excess oil consumption
 

Hello All-I have a 96 Leagacy Outback with the 2.5 engine. The car has 106000 miles on it now, and it had 96000 on it when I got it last summer. Right after I got it I had the timing belt done and the tech also replaced some O rings in the oil pump. Its used oil since the day I got it but I was aware of a leaking valve cover gasket and put it off to that. I finally had the valve cover gaskets replaced a few weeks ago by a competent shop, and now I've got oil being pulled into the breathers on the valve covers. I've been in the auto parts business for 30 years and the guy that did the work is one of the better shops around but it has us both stumped. My last Legacy was a 99 with the 2.2 and in over 200000 miles it never needed oil between changes.
Any Suggestions?

Try replacing the PCV valve.
