GrimmSpeed "Rally Blue" WRB paint match

Finally an answer to all of the World Rally Blue owners out there. We came up with a perfect paint match to (WRB) World Rally Blue in a convenient can! So you can piant match your side-skirts, hood scoops, bumpers, mirrors, you name it!

We painted this JDM hood scoop with the production batch of this paint and it matches perfectly!!!

Is Sonic Yellow next on your list? :?:

GrimmSpeed 2010-09-22 11:58 AM

It definitely could be on the list, however most likely white and silver will be next!!

Oh sure, pick the more common colors first. :P

Hrm... How many cans you think to paint a fender?

khail19 2010-09-22 05:40 PM

I'd get some PSM silver if you end up doing it, I need to repaint a few parts.

Can't you just wipe some nacho cheese on your car to cover stuff up?

GusGus91 2010-09-22 11:57 PM

I might have to order a couple cans of this for my side skirts instead of paying a shop to do it...

knucklesplitter 2010-09-23 07:49 AM

I assume this needs a clear coat to match and look right? Which one do you recommend?

Between April of 2004 and March of 2006, probably, but yellow is impossible to match and it's always fading. It's astonishing to compare the OEM paint in the engine bay to the fenders that have been resprayed. It's like two (or more) completely different yellows.

You can get quality matching paint from http://www.paintworldinc.com/, but it is $9 more than GrimmSpeed's price. I have used their WRB, PSM, CGM, and AW.

See my post above yours. My car is never the same color for long. When I use OEM touchup paint, it looks like I did use nacho cheese.

You do know that the color in the interior *is* different than the color of the exterior, right? At least on my WRB WRX, "Ford Blue" krylon was a close match for the engine bay/trunk paint and is significantly darker than the WRB body paint.

Huh, never noticed it until after my first trip to the bodyshop.

Yeah, Subaru used a two-stage paint process or something. They also painted the non-outer parts of WRB WRXs in Blue Ridge Pearl for some weird reason.

Come back when you have PSM in a gallon for $35.

Normally it is just the exterior gets clear coat and the rest does not. Clear coat makes a big difference in appearance, especially on colors like WRB.

What clear coat do you recommend for this? When do you recommend it be applied after the WRB base? Are you going to offer the clear at that good price point too?
