Someone needs to buy this!

I already got the eye-roll, sigh, and "no" from the wife.

Would make for a neat-o little winter beater.

WRXlerate 2010-11-02 11:56 AM

I'd rock it if I didn't have a late 80's celica alltrac that I need to finish for a winter beater.

Clutch job is worth more than the car... Almost.

I love the spare under the hood... Looks like a V8 air cleaner.

MattR 2010-11-02 12:54 PM

I have room for it!

Yes you do... but how would Carrie feel about it?

Technically, I could fit it in the parking spot with my trailer. But Lisa won't let me spend money on another project, even if it's $700 (or less most likely). I know, you guys should all chip in and buy me an '86 GL for my birthday.

k-dogg39 2010-11-02 02:38 PM

Ooh this would make a sweet rally-x car!

MattR 2010-11-03 03:56 PM

I may head down there saturday if it's still available.

sybir 2010-11-03 03:59 PM

I'm flashing back to a conversation at Flowing Tide, late on a Friday night, many years ago, lol.

Does anyone know where I can find info on this car? Part numbers for clutch? are there wheels out there that fit? Do you think it will be easy to source the clutch parts?

Kevin M 2010-11-03 08:07 PM

Yes. I'll email you tomorrow with what I can get. Wheels would be an issue, but you can probably get like 5 sets of stockers for $60 at this point.

MattR 2010-11-03 08:52 PM

Thanks Kev, I'm going to call the guy to see how bad the clutch is.

You're Super Trucker... What do you need a clutch for? Let's just weld it together. The car's pretty light, you can start moving by turning the key, then just shift with a rev-match.

MattR 2010-11-04 05:48 AM

This is true.

Well?

MattR 2010-11-08 07:13 PM

I talked to the guy, he wasn't available until mid week. It has NO clutch, you have to key start it in gear in its current state, and It has no cat and a questionable exhaust set up. I would have difficulty registering it in Washoe. I'll probably pass.

Kevin M 2010-11-08 07:23 PM

There's this for parts: http://reno.craigslist.org/cto/2040348139.html

If you change your mind, I'm happy to fab a legal exhaust for it... probably wouldn't cost much for parts.

Plus, if that GL isn't driveable, it's not worth $700. That's a $300 car... which is right in the wheelhouse for building a Lemons racer.
