Next gen turbo tech: Borg-Warner EFR turbos
http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_artic...ature-set.aspx
Pretty sweet new developments. Basically, pick any current 'good' turbo. Then imagine buying a replacement that has the same spool characteristics, but makes 15-25% more top end, and costs less than current rotated kits. Pretty sweet eh? Highlights: -New turbine/compressor wheel materials that allow forged or billet blanks to be 100% machined into lighter, stronger shapes for better aerodynamic behaviors -Integrated wastegates for both single and twin scroll housings (no more stuffing external wastegates into narrow spaces plus reduced cost of plumbing) -Integrated bypass valves -Integrated boost control solenoids -Stainless steel exhaust housings Anybody interested in making some SERIOUS horsepower with one of these? Give the shop a call- we're looking for someone to work with us and help us develop a semi-rotated mount kit for these turbos. |
I picked up my 8374efr a couple weeks ago! cant wait to get some numbers out of this thing! I do have the internal wastegate but want a divided t4 and will have to go external wastegate at that time. I would be willing to work with you guys because i am burned out on fab work. If you would be willing to help me on a rotated uppipe with no wastegate port and downpipe i will supply the flanges, and 321 stainless from burns stainless! Let me know as i already have one of these it my hands!

Definitely interested in working with you on this. Looks like Ray C. will be getting a single scroll one too, and we will be working on his too. Give me a call on the KSpeed number (284-1011) sometime soon to discuss. |

http://www.maperformance.com/borg-wa...-efr-7670.html Also available in bigger turbos: http://www.maperformance.com/borg-wa...-efr-8374.html If you look at the image below, notice it is a twin scroll with internal wastegate |
Also there is a twin-scroll internal-wastegate version shown here:

Lots of general info on the BW site:

Kinda liking the idea of a 7064...especially if it makes 30r power with 20g spool.

So Jeff from Perrin posted these at NASIOC...Yeah these turbos look awesome and should perform amazingly...but fitting them looks like it could be a nightmare. Looks like all rotated kits will have to be modified or the downpipe will have a ridiculous bend

Yeah, I've been reading a lot about the potential of the BW turbos and the Perrin research is translating over to the Alta side of the business for the Mini's. Some seriously big power coming out of some of the projects I've seen.
