WTB: Blue Subaru Coolant

The STI is a little low on the super expensive blue subaru coolant, and I dont feel like going and paying $40 for it from them.. so I was just seeing if anybody had a little extra that I could buy off you.. Please let me know.

I usually just add distilled water, but obviously that raises the freeze point.

What's with the blue coolant? I hadn't heard of it.

I dunno what the deal with it is.. but I dont wanna drain it out, and put all new crap in it. and I dont wanna have to pay ridiculous subaru prices.
:/

It's made from pure awesomeness. Awesomeness that can't be mixed with kryptonite based antifreeze.

Subarugenuineparts? Rsd?

GusGus91 2011-11-20 11:34 PM

Yea but see I only need a tiny little bit. lol hence why I dont wanna buy a whole gallon of it :P

Why's it so awesome?

Dunno if it is "awesome", but it lasts 100k miles instead of 30k for the older stuff. It is available usually by the quart at Subaru.

Win!

Thought of taking it to Subaru and playing dumb "idk what this blue stuff is but it's low, can you unlowify it? :?:" ?

Oh, I should probably change mine soon. Should I consider the switch? Since it's hard to get all of the existing green stuff out, should I just stick with green?

It is expensive and you must get all of the green out first. A flush with clear water would likely do. I don't think it's worth it.

Despite what Subaru claims, regular generic green antifreeze is fine at 30k intervals. No need for the overpriced Subaru green stuff after the warranty is done. (When the warranty is still in effect we only use Subaru antifreeze to avoid the dreaded Subaru warranty claim denial.)
