Dunlop Z1 StarSpecs available... but not for long

As some of you have heard, the Dunlop Z1 StarSpec is being discontinued, and is now on closeout at the TireRack. We can get them for you in:

255/40R17 for $845.80 total after pickup, tax, fees, mounting, and balancing
225/50R16 for $712.19 total after pickup, tax, fees, mounting, and balancing
205/55R16 for $725.12 total after pickup, tax, fees, mounting, and balancing
or 235/40R17 for $897.52 total after pickup, tax, fees, mounting, and balancing

Unfortunately, 245/40R17 and 225/45R17 are no longer available. These prices include sales tax, mounting and balancing, and state-required tire disposal fees.

If you aren't bothered too much by a slight performance penalty, the Hankook RS3 and Kumho Ecsta XS will be available in the spring in popular sizes and are generally cheaper. Bridgestone RE11 and Yokohama Advan Neovas should be available as well, but cost more.

Damn, if I were still local, I'd be grabbing a set of the 255's. Any idea what Dunlop is replacing them with?

I can always have them shipped to you. And you'd save on tax. I haven't heard yet what they are being replaced with. Rumor is Dunlop is dropping EHP tires completely. My guess is there's a corporate sibling rivalry thing happening.

Only if you put Cory and the tire machine in the box with them. :) I'm seriously upset about this. I am going to miss these tires!

The Starspec Z2 has been available in Japan for a while now, Hopefully Dunlop will bring those to the states. They look quite a bit sicker than the current Starspecs. But until I find out, 255/40/R17 for me. I will probably be hitting you up for a set soon. (Need a new set of Reno snow tires)

225/45R17 Continental DWS are $639 out the door with mounting, and 245/45 are only a bit more if you're interested. If you want something more along the lines of Blizzaks or something, just let me know and I'll give you a price.

A bit of digging indicates that TireRack will indeed have the ZIIs here around February. I've got an inquiry in to my rep about sizes, pricing, and availability.

Thanks god they're bringing a new generation in. Hope they're cheaper and better. :)
