Yeah, real IT wouldn't use Access.

Ya know, I was anti-access for the longest. But then I figured out that nearly every office machine either already has access, or it can easily be loaded. For small applications, Access is unbeatable, because you don't need to talk the powers that be into purchasing MSSQL or Oracle.
Not to mention that development is so screwy in Access that you have mondo job security once you get them to depend on your app
