Holy crap! I looked that thread up to see how old it was and though it was from 12/3/07 (December). In fact it was from 3/12/07 (March). So yeah, that was like 2 years ago!
Either way, whatever you want to donate is up to you. Just don't feel obligated because of that thread two years ago. That crap is old news.
